Last night my work had a drinks evening at a local bar. I put my bag in the cloakroom (which wasn't really a separate room but was cordonned off).

Anyway, much alcohol was drunk by me and in the end I stumbled to a cab and went home. However, when I got home my wallet was missing from my bag. My girlfriend came out and as she didn't have any cash either she had to drive out and get some cash from the cash machine to pay the cab driver. I then had to phone 8 credit card companies / banks to cancel my cards and then had to report the theft to the police. Several hours later I managed to get to bed.

Then this morning when I came into work a colleague gave me my wallet saying that he'd taken it for a gag!

Is this funny? Will I see the funny side of things eventually (when my replacement cards finally come through the post as my current ones are useless now)? Or am I just a miserable git who can't take a joke?

Some "mate" - I'd have been hard pressed to lamp him.

OK, take it for a gag, but as soon as it's missed, hand it back - bit of a heart flutter, but no harm done.

Given the hassle and inconvienience you've been put to, I'd wind him up. Say you've reported it to the Police that it was stolen... and that now it's turned up you'll have to change your statement or something... and you CAN'T LIE to the Police.. so if he gets proscecuted...

On second thoughts... lamp him.

It's not exactly the Jape of the Decade. I suggest you steal his wallet and make full use the contents until you get replacement cards.

A Twatting is too good for this fcuker..

Something involving epoxy resin, feathers and axle-grease is closer to the mark..

Okay - come on guys - naughtiest act of revenge..

Post his email address and phone number on cards in some phone boxes round town, and in the alt. and uk. usenet groups..

There are loads of things you could do.. oooooh.. my creative juices are flowing now.. I love revenge

Get his credit card number and buy him a Russian Wife..

Get his wifes credit card number and buy him a Russian husband..

Send him a letter supposedly from a national newspaper asking how he came to be on the sex offenders register? Suggest that you might be forced to publish if he's not compliant..

Swipe his car keys... he'll have to dig out the spares (even offer him a lift home to get them)... he'll have to get the locks changed in case they were stolen...

Oh, and then stick them in his drawer... so he realises he must have missed them in his panic...!

How old is this arse'ole? About 7 by the sound of it! Tell him you've reported him to the Police and made an offical complaint regardingf him to your company HR dept. All just for a laugh of course.

Borrow his car and crap in the heater intake, should get him checking the soles of his shoes for a while.

Thanks everyone - I was beginning to think that my repeated visits to the toilet this morning (for purposes) and banging head ache were causing me to have a general sense of humour failure but it seems not.

So I'll consider all the posts (keep them coming) and take appropriate revenge shortly.

If he smokes, apparently threading a few human hairs into a cigarette with a needle produces a rather interesting effect when lit

why not post his email address to us (offine of course, don't want to get Ted in trouble). We could then make sure he gets lots of interesting stuff in his inbox. His wifes email would be handy
