My Max Power neighbour has grown up!!!
Discussion
You'll never guess. My Max power neighbour (The fastest Nova in the UK according to max Power magazine) has just sold his nova and bought...
An Imprezza P1!!
An original P1. Not a copy. Not a Imprezza sport with a big spoiler but a proper, original, Prodrive spec P1.
After he takes me out in it I shall ceremoniously hand him a Pistonheads sticker...

I think you'll find that Scoobysport have rather a lot which would enhance a P1 - from the full Brembo brake upgrade through to the fully adjustable remote resevoir suspension.
Ironically though, the P1 exhaust is that not dissimilar from the Scoobysport/Hayward Scott back box- as its the Prodrive one. De cat and down pipes is a different matter though.
Pete Croney (Scoobysport) drove me round Donnington in his 1999(?) UK Impreza with the brake, suspension, and exhaust upgrade, with slicks on 17" wheels. No engine mods of any descrption. The car was incredibly quick - carried enormous speed through the corners and braking was amazing. Had to ask him to stop after 3 laps as I felt sick!
I miss my Impreza sometimes....

um all Imprezas are highly rated by boy racers. So how is he now not a boy racer? He just has a much quicker car than he had before (well, probably). Has his driving style changed? Does he have no desire to make his car unique? Is he banishing all thoughts of putting 4 12" subs in the boot?
(Not knocking Imprezas, in case any of you like mis-reading between the lines.)

When I had my Scooby a few years back, the on-line Subaru community were quite concerned about the cars becoming cheap enough to be bought by the max power crowd and the brand therefore weakened. Nothing different to the fears of the TVR crowd here.
I put bigger 4 pot brakes and braided hoses, free flow filter, Scoobysport back box and Scoobysport 100w driving lamps on mine. Plus I had a spare set of wheels with a set of slicks and wets for track days - guess that makes me a boy racer!
Is there anything wrong with making a car individual? Isn't it all about personal taste and the degree of modification?
Anyone know where I can get a Scooby air scoop for the Griff's bonnet?

Well normally I agree with most things you say CarZee (you need to try harder

I'm not altogether sure that anything ScoobySport have to sell would enhance a P1 in any way - it's a rather more serious proposition than a plain ole Impreza Turbo..
), but in this case I think you're wrong. Scoobysport have toys for the whole range of Imprezas. The only reason that I don't have the backbox on my P1, is cos my wife's impression/fear of speed is purely related to noise. Hence I can drive the P1 quicker than the Chimaera when I have her as a passenger

I agree 100%
This is especially the case for the classic shape(the greatest) and now they are becoming very cheap.
And the fact that he's purchesed the top end model and probably the best Impreza to date p*sses me off even further
, at least he has good taste although I'm sure he'll drive it like a complete t**t!

Cool - There's hope for the low paid among us then.
Even if prices fall to levels we can afford, the owners of new cars will hate us.
Jesus! I hate snobby bastards.
Edited to say that I'm not launching a personal attack - I'm sure everyone on this site cares more about the cars and driving them than brand image.

Maybe I'm missing something but wasn't the Subaru always seen as a cheap car which goes very fast. Maybe if they didn't want the brand weakening they shouldn't have produced the Justy.
Even the saxo lads are worried that prices are starting to drop into the territory previously reserved for novas

Just think, all the tat you've seen on Novas will soon be on Saxos (I know it is at the moment, but generally better fitted as the cars cost more) in a similarly shonky fashion.
