I had one of my TVRs used in an episode of 'The Bill' a few years ago. The company was called 'Action Vehicles' and they contacted me via the TVRCC.
I was told they normally have a contact with a local dealer, depending on where they are filming but in this case, they wanted the baddie (a drugs dealer) to run about in a classic TVR and few of the main dealers had even heard of the car they wanted

I've had a bit trawl thru the internet, just brings up a load of crap but did find the company that hires out classic cars to Heartbeat.
Hows about people doing calenders and photoshoots etc. I'd quite like watching some semi-naked beauty sliding around the drivers seat, but I suppose i'd better put my dirty old man mac away for now

I recall that they valeted the car before they returned it to me; the ½ kilo of sherbet was missing from the secret panel in the boot, but it seemed churlish to complain.

When I was on holiday last year I got chatting with a bloke whose car appeared in a Jamaroqui video (it was a purple lambo - was that Cosmic Girl - personally not a fan).
Apparently Jay K wanted to use his own Lambo for the shoot, but managed to write it off part way through the video. The production company contacted a Lambo garage and contacted this bloke through there. It might sound a bit strange but maybe writing a note to TVR offering your car up of they receive such requests would suffice.

um how do you know they treat the cars well? eg dont rev the bollocks off the car just after switching it on? eg dont take it off the set for a lunchtime doughnutting session to screw the lsd up? eg dont bother looking out for potholes to avoid thus denting your alloys and knackering the suspension? and other ways car journos treat press cars

Does anyone know where you can list your car to be used on TV?
I'd love to see my Cerb in a film or in a TV series or even just a commercial.
Of course, the money would come in handy too
This is venture that I was considering having a go at.
In the form of a web site that could be used by enthuiasts to post their vehicles for use and the "Industry" to find suitable vehicles for any given production. Luckily I have some contacts on the industry side
The data base could be accessed from different standpoints, ie period, character, nationality. Damn shouldn't say any more....
[rant]It came on 'cos it erks me when watching films or programs and charaters are in totally the wrong car. Or when a car is destroyed, that the buck is often not the same. People do notice and it degrades the quality of the production.[/rant]
...suffice it to say that it would also be tied into a little freelance artwork site for me and some travelling round the country meeting lovely enthuiastic owners. None around here I don't suppose?

Danger mouse, you have a nice little idea going there - if you could handle the south, i'd look after the north. I could do with a new venture to fill in my spare time.
I like the idea of the classic car link above, but you shouldn't have to pay to have your car registered. Thats probably why they have a few gaps with no cars available. You need to offer an incentive to people to offer their cars not charge them.

Yep that's kind of thing, but these ones tend only to deal in pristine resto jobs and "selfconfessed" classics.
As we all know not everyone in the world drives this type of car, and nor would all the huge diversity of fictional characters on celluloid.
I would want to provide a more diverse data base of vehicles right up to the present day, in varying condition. Obviously they would have to be mechanically sound, but not necessarily look A1.
I feel this would give prop procurers and casting directors a more naturalistic range of vehicles to choose from than those shown on these other sites.
This isn't "holy Grail" job I've been talking about elsewhere, just a potential sideline, but if it took off it could form a different direction later on...who knows!

P.s. That 250gto of Mason's is abolsutely stunning! A friend of a friend had a rotten 330 Califonia, had a gto shell built from scratch from the orginal plans in aluminium and put it on the 330 running gear. He's now the proud owner of a Powder-blue and yellow striped 330 gran turisimo omologato. It's not just the name that sounds amazing, belive me!
