Need help with my "Drive-ing"

Not too far off topic I hope, I have a problem with the drive to our house, its basically stone laid on top of very old brick for the first half. This is ok in the summer but when it rains you get puddles which then increase in depth and size every time you splash thru them and wash out the fine stuff, result- huge potholes. This is OK for my Navara (apart from getting filthy Every time I go out) but hopefully my kit will be on the road as from Christmas and it only has about four inches ground clearance!
As I don't want to knock the bottom out, any advice on what I could do to the drive that doesn't cost the earth? Bear in mind the drive is a third of a mile long!

Gravel?? (Lots!!) and a steady right foot.

We put gravel down over the old cobbles, and apart from a yearly rake to pull it back from the corners it worked well. Just remember not to floor it when someone is standing behind you (Thanks Sis)

A third of a mile sounds expensive whatever you use, but if you can find a tarmac company that's stripping off old tarmac in order to resurface then they might dump it your way. A lorry firm just up the road from me has had it's entire lorry park done with the top 4 inches off the A17. It gave the tarmac firm a free tip for the waste chippings, so they were happy. Might be worth a try.

Think loose surface may be the way to go as it would let the water thru rather than create puddles. Getting fed up with permanantly mud covered legs due to crusted running boards at the moment. Doesn't smell too good either as there are cows loose on the one half of the drive!

Enough garaging for 20 cars, quads etc and a Pit, room for a four post lift as well as three phase!
Oh and the house is OK too, would you want to move?
