I saw a rather mean looking black evo extreme this morning, popping and burbling as it trundled by. It led me into wondering which of these beasts is the ultimate uk road weapon? Light weight v phone number bhp.

hmmmm.....the Tiv got intimidated by one of these Skyline monsters (also black) lurking behind me at a set of lights onto a dual carriageway. In fact it was Scooby, S2, Skyline in that order waiting for the green.

I know my place so got out the way ASAP and watched the Skyline go on to trounce the scooby in no time at all. They were going VERY VERY quickley....and in a 40

I've only ever seen one R34, I think, new shape skyline on the road. It really is a mean looking bastid in the flesh - so damn hard and chunky. A black one must look ridiculous.

A colleague pointed out an article on these twin turbo beasties the other day. A new chip and turbo kit turns them into genuine +200mph machines.

Skyline GTR wins on power and straightline speed, an Evo would outcorner it in the tight stuff though. There's an excellent vid of a ~500bhp Skyline punching through 200mph on a German autobahn, it was posted on the forums at www.gtr.co.uk a few weeks ago. The speed the needle goes from 180 to 210mph is unreal!

There are nutters in Japan extracting 1200 PS from the skyline engines, and regular runners at 1000 PS!!! Apparently 600 BHP is not too hard to achieve, but requires new clutch etc.
