F***ing NCP W****ers
Discussion
Right those bastoadians of the multi-story car park NC bloody P managed to ruin what was up that point a top night out, a fellow Pher, myself, and another nice chap had made the journey up to Leeds from friendly 24 hour party town Nottingham
, all was going well, parked the may-tees Eurobox in the 1st NCP you find, as you do in a strange town, and headed off for much beer lairyness (well not me I was to be the driver home) a few beers were had in Leeds
, nice if a little quite, then off to the gig we had travelled to see.
The Streets, live, top entertainment, much better than expected, anyway out the gig and amble back to the multi-story trying to find a $hit in tray merchant on route
, no luck even McCay D’s was shut
, arrive back at the car park to find all the shutters down, everything locked, and no sign of life. After much banging on the shutters, the doors, and trying to attract some attention
, it looked like someone was in a security room, but no one came out to see what the commotion was, look at our watches it’s now about 11.05pm, by then we’d been banging for quite some time, we then see the sign inside the entrance ‘Car Park shuts at 11.00pm’ well last night I think they shut up shop early.
Well now we’re faced with a problem, the cars locked in, and we’re 100 miles from home, what do you do? A valiant attempt was made to gain access to the multi-story but the place was like Fort Knox, a taxi was going to be £80 and the chances of getting a hotel were looking slim as it appears Leeds closes at 9.00pm.
Anyway our saviour came in the form of may-tees wife being dragged out of bed and having to drive up from Notts in her little Suzuki Jeep (60mph tops) to come and fetch us.
So after 2 hours standing about we were on our way home, but of course the Eurobox is still being held at NCP’s pleasure and the meters running.
Anyway for those of you still with me, NCP are now going to get both barrels, especially as it’s going to be 9.00pm tonight at the earliest before we can rescue the motor and the parking bill is going to be scary, anyone know the best plan of attack against these people, we want blood, and we want compensation, we ‘may’ have been a little late, but we’re talking seconds, now we’re going to have 2 unnecessary trips to Leeds to add to the parking bill, and the time and hardship we’ve suffered and may-tee now owes wifey a much more extravagant Christmas present.
So come all of you who have suffered at the hands of the patron saint of dinged doors ‘NCP’ rise up and give me a clue how to make someone’s head roll!

Nasty, but has funny overtones. Sorry.
Errr, do you have any proof as to what time you got back to the car park? have you phoned them this morning? if not.. then do it. Worry about billing them for your troubles once you get the car back. You'll need statements from your buddies. Not sure that you'll get anythng out of 'em though.

If you're still after compensation then you can guarantee you'll get nothing from them if you go in with all guns blazing.
Far better to lay it on thick with the story about a troubled journey, problematic day, good intention and NCP letting the side down.
Of course if you just want a fight to get it out your system....
They'll have their side of the story wrapped up - we close every night at the same time sir...it is well advertised sir... etc etc etc...sir..
At our local NCP there's an emergency out of hours contact number plastered on the opening time boards. It is a bit late to worry about that now but could be worth checking when you pick the car up so as not to look stupid when you go in search of your fight.

Don't worry about it being a bit funny in hindsight, we found it mildly amusing then
I was slightly less inconvinienced than the other 2 as I didn't have to get anyone out of bed to solve the problem.
The only phone number we could see was on the ticket, this was a London number and had been changed to another number which no one answered
There are a few bleeding heart tactics we could utilise as the PHer (who will remain nameless till he stumbles upon this thread at lunch time) whos car it is, is currently expecting a little PHer (well his wife actually) so having the car locked up is not very convieniant

Unlucky ...
I'd have been mad as hell too.
More officious under achieving little tossers who can't resist exercising what pathetic power they have over people in whatever unhelpful way they can.
You need call their regional office and see what they say - if satisfaction is not forthcoming, you need to send a shit-o-gram to their CEO/MD.

I took a lass out for a nice romantic (read bloody freezing) walk along the piers where I live, parked the car up at 8pm not reckoning on needing a ticket and not noticing the bloody great barrier to the left of me...
Anyway, the walk took a little bit um... longer
than I had originally planned and we got back to the car about 11pm, only to find a parking bod had left me a £40 wonder... AND the bloody gates were locked.
A phone call to the cops got me nowhere and I had to travel back to the place at 9am hoping I could get there before the next parking bod could slap another £40 on it (be fcuked if I was gonna pay for a ticket to park overnight when it was bloody locked in!) and ended up having to phone mum rather embarrassed and empty the car (we're talking loads of cd's, change, multimeter (it's french... nuff said) etc etc as the little scroates round that area would smash your window for 20p if they saw it)
Granted I was an hour late, but cmon - £40 wonder AND being locked in

Drive a 'scrapper' through the shutters was on the list of possible escape plans
but then we'd still need to get the Eurobox out without any damage so the idea fell at the final hurdle, like the idea of a little consumer terrorism against NCP in general though.
One thing that amased us though was the lack of security in Leeds, in Nottingham if you fart in the wrong place someone's got a CCTV camera on you and plod will be along with in seconds, but Leeds you could get away with murder,

Well at least you got the![]()
Well the eurobox has been liberated from NCP's plessure, we'd resigned ourself to pay the full amount as if we wade in for a complaint with a ticket for £2 and an hours parking they will probably smell a scam.
So park eurobox No2 outside car park and wander in, and it's half locked up aready (9.30pm) and the eurobox No1 has now been in there nearly 30 hours
Notice a parking attendant by the exit barrier and ask him where to pay, he says 'you can pay me' so hand the chap our ticket, he looks at a little longer than you would expect then tells us 'right sir that will be £8' We look at each other and quickly pay the man
The chap had only seen the times on the ticket not the dates.
So cheers for all the surgestions, and cheers Mr NCP CEO for hiring cheep imigrant £3.50/hour staff who have trouble reading and survive on pocketing your parking charges
So other than 2 return trips to Leeds we came out of this little scrap only slightly down and will be dinning out on it all Christmas

A bit late now, but I am led to believe that a shopping trolley works as an efficient substitute for a car in these circumstances (enough metal to fool the loops in the entrance lane)....
raceboy said: Only problem with that is how do you get the second ticket?
You would have to drive up to the barrier in car No2 get ticket then reverse out, hopeing no one has come in behind you, and the security is asleep![]()
Still waiting for a response from regional manager though
