Golf track/road exhaust question

I need to sort out a cheap full system for my currently in build on a (very) tight budget 16v Golf track day & road car. Now I am, as ever, strapped for cash, so quality stainless options are really too expensive. (otherwise I would be on the phone to Manu @ Scuderia)

So the option of an OMP group A/N system appeals, mainly coz it should not be too noisy (should please the track day noise nazi's) and be more free flowing than a standard set up.

However Demon Tweeks advertise the system as "aluminised steel construction" and it only has a 6 month warranty. Now does that descrption just mean cheap mild steel construction? or is it even more crap quality that a kwik fit jobbie and unlikely to last out a single salty winter??

ps I dont suppose anyone has a set of Eibach A/R bars sat in the garage they want to flog cheap??

I've got a Jetex system on my race car - lasted four seasons so far and no sign of any rust or holes yet. Sounds good too though any power increase comes from a decent manifold rather than exhaust.

Anyway guys surely someone knows what "aluminised steel construction" means and if its just cheapo crap mild steel???

Might be worth trying to dig out an old Janspeed jobbie... when they went bust people bought up the stock, and I've seen it filter onto the market for peanuts...

aluminised steel is just mild steel with an aluminium coating for rust protection IIRC. It's what most oem systems are...

Yeah im with Spn on this one.
Manifold makes a very noticable difference, but depends on where ya want yer power to be concentrated.
I bought a scorpion stainless exhaust for my golf.
Even that ended up having the rear box modified cos of poor internals.
As someone else said aluminised construction is simply mild covered with alu/zinc coating.(OEM)
