Always did like the Impreza bit in the Birmingham motor show Issue.
About by 2008 if the front scoop keeps growing as it does each new version it will be so large that rock bands will be using it for concerts

Aha! (Overly eager Impreza owner jumps in)

The scoop is on its way out. If you look at the new generation rally cars they've repositioned the intercooler to the front of the car because the scoop generates too much aerodynamic lift and hence the scoop is massively reduced in its crowd capacity.

The only Uk Impreza which doesn't generate lift at high speed is the P1 because it has the massive front skirt and splitter which work with the silly whale fin at the back of the car negating the lift caused by the scoop which happens on all the other Scoobies.

On the latest rally Impreza they've adopted the Evo approach of splitting the air, with the top portion going through the radiator/intercooler and out through vents in the bonnet.

Here endeth the lesson

Oh, and sniff petrol is excellent, as is the author's new column in Evo magazine.

I'd have thought having you in it would be enought to negate any lift anyway

'Tis true, but to generate lift my car has to go fast. Something your S is unable to do.

well that depends entirely on how you define fast..

If you mean "any twat can get it from point to point at warp 9" then no, my S isn't fast

When I was looking for a family car a couple of years ago I test dove a WRX imprezza and I've never driven a more tedious quick car. Yes it was quick, yes it handled well, no it needed no skill whatsoever, yes it was pig ugly... I was bored senseless after 10 minutes.

All of the above meant in a humourous way with no offence intended whatsoever

Regards,

Mark

Edited to say: my soon to be departing carlton auto is actually more tedious than the wrx but not by much.

Carcoat Damphands is fantastic. The scarey thing is, you can actually work out what he's getting at.
Hmm, maybe that's just me.

Thought his column in EVO was ok, in a mildly amusing sort of way, but not yet a "can't hold back the wee for laughing" column. Rich...

p.s. anyone else beginging to get irritated these guys banging on about themselves and how evo they all are. This months edition almost made me puke. All that nonsense about them all going for a jolly up to the Yorkshire Dales, I don't give a stuff about them I want to read about cars. Not what time the alarm on Meaden's Rolex went off and how David Yu couldn't find his RayBans 'cos Barker had knicked them since he'd stuffed his Oakleys up his arse at at the evo towers Xmas bash etc. etc. yawn...
