Just struck me that PH Gassing provides much needed human interaction for people like me working from home, a bit like hanging around the coffee machine in an office. Does this explain the popularity of bb's in general?

How many of you PH'ers are 'homeworkers'?

Oh well, had my coffee, can't stand around here all day

Cheers

Bring the cat to the office... it'd probably get ofered a job, if your cow-orkers are half as dreadful as the specimens of homo sapiens I'm surrounded by

Me! It's the only thing that keeps me sane - talking to myself all day just doesn't have the same effect somehow.

Edited to add: And I don't have a cat.

I'm with CarZee - yes it does. What's nice about PH is that it seems to have become a real community/club too with members arranging "Car-ry" days out and so on. Its not just a "virtual" social life...its actually much like a car-club/society too.

I've had more fun than you can shake a stick at and made real friends (who share my obsession with fast cars) through the site.

Its not that I wouldn't have done otherwise - its just been a catalyst.

Three Cheers for Pistonheads!

... let me qualify that...

It makes me thoughly anti-social in the office, but preserves my vital life fuctions, Breathing, Heart beat, Ranting and so on...

... so probably the answer should have been

YES

I've got a huge ginger Pussy too. Can't pop him in a box though, he's twelve weeks old and already dwarfs our othe two cats.

it's a definite social hub when you're stuck at home (with no cat ). Still today it's great to be working from home as I didn't have to manuvre 1500kg of mercedes brick out onto the piste (I mean road).

As others have said it's trips like folembray etc and BTAP cement this as a proper real world community, not just a message board.

Difference between PH and other message boards is the quality of the personal interaction; most such boards tend to increase the quantity, but not the quality of the interaction.. Measures of affect tend to demonstrate an increase in depression etc as people have less personal contact, (e.g. homeworkers).

Oh dear..

On the even more positive side, without such a friendly and knowledgeable bunch I'd never have bought the TVR thats currently sat outside soaking up all of my spare time and cash.

Yup, homeworker here as well.

PH also provided "cohomeworkers" for my 'Office Christmas Lunch', thanks to CarZee, SGirl, Miraz & Loserkid.

Top stuff.

Oh, partially a homeworker myself.. When I have to show my face in the office, I do, but get away with staying at home a few days a week(ish)..

Keeps me sane to stay away from that place..

Yes!! And good fun it was too. Fancy another lunch, chaps? Bit late for an Epiphany lunch, maybe an Easter gathering? Different restaurant next time, though...

And next time you all have to wear silly hats!!!

Edited to add: Oh, and next time I promise not to snigger in juvenile fashion when someone at a nearby table mentions firemen. Or what they wear on their heads.
