Right, today is my 1st wedding anniversary which apparently has some sort of "paper" relevance or something, anyway I was up and out to work today before Mrs Mel stirred from the land of nod so I got a temporary reprieve. However when I get home this afternoon my nuts will be well and truely in the sling unless I'm seen to have "made an effort" I've booked a table and done the evening thing but I need some inspiration for a pressie that's readily avaliable when I slope off to Bluewater in a few hours. Any ideas ?????? and no I don't think a cheque will cut it.

Well I took a wedding photo (the paper bit) and got it framed. Not very good I know, but I didn't get any grief about it either.

Other options are books or how about a magazine subscrption (a bit late for that though, and no, evo is *NOT* a suitable title!)

Seriously, why not a nice eternity ring if your budget will stretch to it? Good things to get on first wedding anniversaries IMHO.

My parents forgot their wedding anniversary this year until mum bumped into someone in the village shop who wished her happy anniversary. She went home and told my dad who said "Oh, is it? Happy anniversary, love" and that was that.

I phoned up in the evening wracked with guilt for not getting a card in the post but I felt better after the told me that.

Well, on my 1st wedding anniversary I did bugger all, not even a card from memory. Once you start doing the weekend in Rome bit (to quote Flash), it means every bloody year, you've got to supercede last year's effort until after about ten years - you're going on a six month safari etc.

Do as little as you can get away with is my 2p worth.

I'm sure you take her out, buy her gifts sometimes on the other 364 days of the year.

I would go for that....some of the little card shops do really nice handmade sheets of paper and envelopes.

Done the same thing myself. Found that flowers delivered to home/wife's work place (basically wherever your wife is going to be on the day) with a suitable card does the trick. Followed up with dinner somewhere romantic later on.
