The rumour in the city (well, the FT) is that Bernie ECclestone is looking to buy the loss-making Octagon Motorsports, which includes Silverstone and Brands..

NOOooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo!

We all know he has no concept of what makes a track "special", only money. So Brands will be sold for housing development (with leisure facilities)

and Silverstone will have all those nastly long straight shortened with chicanes, etc etc

Please no. Please leave Brands and Silverstone alone...

(appologise to Snetterton, Cadwell and Oulton but I've never been to those circuits, so I cannot comment).

Hes been after Silverstone for some time now.

I thought he already had quite some stake in Brands though. The theory being that he was going to do Brands up to F1 standard so we went back to alternating the grand prixs every year. This was in order to devalue Silverstone so he could pick it up on the cheap.

Actually he was going to buy the whole world but he couldn't work out who to sell the TV rights to.

Acutally Rupert Murdoch is buying the whole world as it's cheaper than buying the TV rights from Bernie.
