Has anyone else seen the new ads for the RAC personal injury service? www.rac.co.uk/legalservices/personal_injury

They now offer a service to help you make a personal injury claim. I must admit to being appalled that they have turned down this path, I had hoped the vacuum caused by that big claims company going down the tubes would suck the rest of the scum down, but it seems that this is getting worse! Unfortunately I have just renewed with them (having been a member for many years) but am thinking of writing a letter of objection regarding what I consider to be a saddening diversification of their business.

So, am I over reacting, or does anyone else think that they are only one step up the evolutionary ladder than pond slime?

Nope, Fer, I'm afraid your assessment is all too accurate.

More's the pity. Nothing is scared anymore. A shocker.

I had a response from the RAC regarding my WTF email.

"Thank you for your comments regarding RAC's involvement in this activity.

RAC have been supporting it's members for many years (since the inception of RAC Legal Services in 1908) with the pursuit of legitimate personal injury claims, and given the recent discussion about the activities of certain companies in this area, we have mede the decision to broaden the availablity of this service to the whole road using public in the UK.

I am the business manager responsible for this service, and I promise you that as a fifteen year employee of RAC, I would not suggest the organisation's involvement in any 'ambulance chasing'. I hope that if you watch our TV advert carefully, you will see that we have chosen to approach the marketing of this service very differently to the competition.

I hope that this reassues you of our motives, and we look forward to your continued support.

Regards,

XXXXX XXXXXXX,
Head of Accident Assistance."

So, in their words, they are not the same scum-sucking, numpty conning, stitch up merchants, but are something all together different.

Hope that sets everyone's minds to rest!
