Damsel in distress
Discussion
I know my boyfriend loves this site and thought someone might be able to help me. Problem is as follows: My boyfriend's mercedes is his pride and joy and he always makes a big fuss of the petrol he uses. He's been away this week and has trusted me for the first time with his baby. Only prob I forgot to fill it up with the Optimax petrol he told me to use and just used normal stuff - will he technically be able to tell the difference? He gets back this evening.......
I think you're safe on this one....if he complains it's running rougher than usual then just come clean. The odd tankful of 95 octane petrol is inevitable in any car as Optimax simply isn't always available.
So it was going to happen sooner of later anyway.
Just be very contrite if he actually notices...which is hugely unlikely...unless he reads this thread!
Oooooops!

Or you could go and squeeze as much Optimax into the tank as possible and leave it at that. If he complains just show him the receipt that proves you've been filling it with Optimax.
Job done.
Alternatively I'd suggest you shag his brains out - that'll take his mind off what petrol you may or may not have been filling his car up with!

He does drive a Mercedes and have a girlfriend called Penelope.
So does Rod Stewart, and if I was going home to that Penelope, the exhaust would be the last
thing on my mind for a few hours I can tell you! I would hope that after a week away, a cursory glance around the beastie would suffice to ensure no modifications to the bodywork have been made.
Once inside, you could break it to him gently what you have done, over a nice meal, perhaps a long hot bath that you share to ease the pain of being away from you. Homesty is always good..
Alternatively, if he doesn't notice, then best not to worry him.. Won't have done the beastie any harm..
Of course, anyone tries that with my TVR

bit confused by the jargon now....whats are PHer?
Was thinking though, is there any way I could test out whether the car feels different before he gets back so that i know in advance whether i'll be discovered or not. Someone said the car might feel rougher to him what signs should i look out for?
PS its not like Penelope's my real name...

Also depends on what sort of 710 the car uses..

Along similar lines I remember telling a female colleague at work that I regularly get the air in my tyres changed. I explained to her how after a month or two of driving the air goes stale and hence needs replacing. She took her car down the garage the next day
I wouldn't worry about the Optimax, he probably won't even notice.
Well to check if a car feels rough you just run your hand all over the outer edges, try and get underneath too. If it all feels smooth, you're clear, if any of it feels rough, you're busted.

Take the car for a drive but only use reverse gear and make sure your right foot is nailed to the shag pile at all times.
After about 2hrs you should be able to tell if theres a problem
Alternatively learn karate and if he moans then bitch slap him till he shuts up.
