RAC Rouge Traders last night.

I have this thing about these types of programmes, just like Watchdog etc. If anyone is stupid enough to get some dodgy pikeys to do their drive and expect it to be done proper loike they deserve everything they get!
Also, on the channel (BB2 I think)was this bloke who advertises a great way of making money, just send me some money and I will tell you, he was raking it in! If people are this thick then fair play to him I say, they probably drive their cars with the fog lights on and dont indicate properly on motorways anyway.
He got 5 years by the way.
Then there is Mat Alwright (no, he isnt) who went to North Cyprus to show us how many bad people live there. Who cares, if they aint here its good.
Anyway, this RAC one last night was very annoying. Firstly, the "broken down" couples just led the RAC guy, I am sure the editors cut out the bits like "Hello, the car will not start, I thnk its the battery" Its was so pathetic.
Equally, RAC were just as guilty as the programme has said and have changed their policy on selling batteries. I am with the AA and I have used them and saved £300+ on transporting my car all over the country.

Consumer programmes can be annoying, especially now that we are more "media savvy" and can recognise the tricks they play to ensnare their intended subjects. Having said that, I do rather enjoy them. I was not really surprised by the antics of the RAC patrols though. Now that they are a profit making organisation whose masters are really the shareholders and not the members, sales incentives are a natural consequence.
As for our friend running the Yorkshire based scam, the fascinating aspect of that programme was the fraudster's attitude to people in general. His view on humanity was that everone was a potential victim to be exploited. In many respects I admired his honesty (if not his morals). Anyway, he went down for 6 1/2 years, which was about right.
