I taped it and watched it when I got in from the pub last night. Cracking interview, very entertaining which is the point of the show. A more appropriate performance than on QT.

yeah he earned himself a couple of boos for it, I can't help admiring the guy, he speaks out deliberately avoiding all the pc hangups but without intentionally to offend. I bet a lot of people find his style insensitive though which is a sign of how far we've come down this road of idiocy

I was interested by the response to Jeremy's remark. I believe Tamsin said "There are a lot of crimes that go on in the army", to which Jeremy responded "Yeah, like Bloody Sunday".
Maybe naive to mention it, but he wasn't justifying it, he was saying it was a crime!
People are too touchy on certain subjects, like the immigration issue. People don't like talking about it as they are accused of racism (as has been shown on Pistonheads several times)

I generally regard Clarkson as a benign pratt but I greatly respected his comment on Bloody Sunday.
The time is ripe for the truth, however painful, to emerge, the fact that an experienced and shrewd journo, for like it or not that's what JC is, feels able to treat the subject with a degree of ironic humour augers well for the current enquiry succeeding where others have fudged.
Loved Tasmin sending Kilty up regarding talking to the Dolphins, nicely done.

Exactly. I think my initial post may have been taken slightly the wrong way. When I said it was a TV balls up, I didn't mean what he said, I meant where he said it. To even mention Bloody Sunday in Belfast takes Titaniun Nuts.
I do like JC for his 'Take no prisoners' style of journalism. Tell it like it is is the only way to be, none of this pussy foot around PC Bullshit. If you can't hit something head on, don't hit it at all!
[on dangerous ground] The real joke about Bloody Sunday is the Saville Inquiry - an opportunity for attention-seeking, axe-grinding barristers to be paid millions by the taxpayer to drum up conspiracy theories and fantasies about what really happened. Its cost us more than £100 million so far and is likely to top £200 million - and what will the outcome be? Have to say that, as a journalist, I'm not sure I respect someone who calls himself a journalist and spouts forth on a subject about which he's no better informed than you or I, simply because he's got a platform from which to do it. His opinion on N Ireland is no more valid than most other people's and, I'd wager, less informed than most people in NI and a considerable number on the mainland.
The only reason he gets a platform is because he's entertaining -- not because he's specially knowledgeable outside his specialism.
Cars? I bow down. Politics -- er, no (whether or not you happen to agree with him).
manek, I think we are admiring his style rather than his expertise. To be honest I don't really care what his opinion is (or I'd be upset at him calling TVR's uncool) I do admire his disregard for Political Correctness though, but if he were ever to come into my house and start telling me to vote New Labour, I'd say "OY CLARKSON, NO!, NOT IN MY HOUSE!!"
