Be Affraid Mr Blair, Be Very Affraid!
Discussion
I had a very interesting chat today with what could only be stereotypically described as a ‘liberal teacher’
You know the type, mid 40’s, unmarried, (easy Mungo) wearing flared jeans with flowers embroidered on the flared section and drives a mini/2CV. Oh, and we were talking at a school in Bournemouth!
Well, I got into a conversation with her regarding the current immigration situation! Being on customers premises I thought I had better not push my views too strongly but did want to make sure she heard an alternative point of view. Not to have completely open borders and vet strongly all who wanted to enter, you know what I mean!
I nearly fell off my chair when she got going ……..
Throw all illegal immigrants out …. This country is becoming the cesspit of Europe …. Terrorists allowed to ply their trade under our noses …. When will the gov’t see what’s going on …. The Aussies have the right attitude ….. Let the scrounging, lazy barstewards rot in hell!
FCUKING HELL. If this is what the chattering, middle class masses are thinking, the BNP and the NF must be rubbing their hands with glee. I can see some rather eyebrow raising results come the next round of elections.

I think the government is inciting racial hatred.
Look at the Asylum Seekers they are letting in, giving homes to, driving lessons, Cheque's to buy cars with.I have heard a story, of Doctors being advised to take patient off book to let Asylum seekers on.
There is apparently a rumour going around that there was a big fight in Grays, between 2 rival groups of Asylum Seekers, but it hasn't been reported anywhere.
Even the most easy going person is going to feel like we are giving them everything and not looking after our own.
Look at the old peoples homes that are closing, whilst at the same time we are taking in thousands from overseas.
Add to that the security risk and it is all becoming a joke.
I can feel there will be a big shift soon, everyone is getting p@55ed off with the Asylum laws, and the fact that Blair is harldy ever around to sort out problems at home is not helping.
I can see, unfortunately, the BNP taking quite a few votes now as they are the only group to say wht the majority of people in the street are now saying.
People can only take so much.

I disagree.. most of the types who are un-nerved or disgruntled by this whole asylum shambles are the same sorts who are disgruntled by the motoring travesties - people like us who've got too much invested in the status quo to deviate from the law-abiding line & take direct action...

You'll always get the odd race riot so long as there are areas of deprivation.. cf. every major city. These, however, will not spread to civilised society because unlike the poll tax, this isn't taking the money directly from our pockets, it's depriving us of money and quality of life in much less tangible and obvious ways. Indirect spending on housing & benefits through taxes. Insurance costs rise, council tax rises. Perceived (and real) risk from increases in street crime, begging, un-insured drivers and paying ever more for the efforts of the home office, immigration service, C&E & the police.
We need urgent legislation to draw up exceptions to the ECHR & 1952 Geneva protocol for asylum seekers so that detention and expulsion orders can be enforced without some Eurowig stamping on the proposal. Why don't Blair and Blunkett concentrate on this instead of spending legislative time removing such protections for us as habeus corpus, double jeopardy and jury trials?
Our rights are being eroded year upon year by this lot for the sake of euro-harmonisation and internal security. Don't forget this everytime you find out that an asylum seeker (even a rejected one) has new rights and more protections bestowed upon him.

I think it'll show up more at a local level. Extreme parties will focus and have the resourses to do their thing more at a lower level.
You watch the reaction from the BBC then.
Should these parties be banned?
How have the extremists managed to win council seats?
What are the gov't going to do to stop them getting more power?
It would be funny if it weren't so bloody true!

Carzee,
Do you have the FACTS on asylum seekers causing the problems you describe? If you do I'd be genuinely interested in reading them.
With regards to the Labour Party winning the next election I sadly think they will win, because there is no credible opposition.
Sorry Carzee be an Ostrich if you like - there are more crisis out there than you can shake a stick at - take your choice; Albanian/Yugoslavian gangs bringing in guns and carving up vice/drug territories in any major UK city you choose to mention; Yardie gangs terrorising to build up drug franchises; North African (read Algerian or Libyan) fundamentalists/al Queda or whatever just bent on bringing West world to its knees; etc, etc.. Prob is we dont' know who the enemy is - we even grant asylum to Taleban members allegedly.
I'm bloody worried and want the people who can to do something about it - to take action. Three words 'fiddle', 'Rome' and 'burn' spring to mind

Bliars government is going to leave a terrible legacy.
We'll apparently have to work until 70 because they've devalued our pension funds.
What pension funds and investments we're left with are shrinking largely due to the the market's and investors' lack of confidence inspired by Bliar's war-mongering.
There's talk on this forum of a new brain drain with the best of you buggering off (understandably) to Canada etc while they give undesirable incomers all the help and incentive they need courtesy of we tax payers.
There's been enough spoken here about the disgusting attack on the motorist (aka voters but the Government is too thick to see that) while apprentice burglars can now apparently enter their trade confident that they'll not get a prison sentence.
Knee jerk legislation, sneaky back door taxes, spin doctors -shit shit shit all of it.
The UK has become a truly grim place to live and it'll get worse if this lot stay in power - I hate them all and so does everybody I speak to, even the in-laws who used to think Bliar was a "great man".
I'd rather a bit of sleaze than incompetence, ineffectivness and, it seems, lack of concern for the future of this country.

Did you read what I said...?
Ostrich? We'll see if I'm wrong - I'm not saying there is no crisis, I'm saying that the rank & file will not take to the streets over it..
I don't want to seem glib, but you can find the evidence as easily as I can..

There is an opposition - it ain't perfect but it is credible - trouble is Labour's mates in the media think they are doing their bit for the project by always doing the damnedest to portray the |Tories as no hopers and thus we get comments like "There is no opposition" - or do you want the tories to be like New Labour upto 1997 - promising the world, fooling the population and then giving us sh!t sandwiches when they get into power?
And FFS "Negative Equity = painful but ancient history" -think of a better reason to slag the Tories off.

CarZee - the point I'm trying to make is that gobbing off on an internet forum ain't going to make any difference to the asylum situation. Do something about it or emmigrate.
They aren't the only choices...

My point was that I can find the data to support my assertions, but I'm not writing a social science essay, so I'm not quoting and attributing etc. The information is out there.
I, like most, will no doubt acquiesce to whatever shit they put forth, other than writing to MPs and the press,
