Ministry of Crap Design...
Discussion
Sometimes, you just come across an item which is so badly designed or positioned that even if it looks nice it doesn't actually work properly..
eg1) The ceramic tap-handles on a couple of our basins cannot be turned when your hands are wet.
eg2) Our main inside stop-cock could not be turned on or off due to it being embedded in a corner of our kitchen sink-cabinet. It cracked yesterday and removing/replacing it engendered chiselling out a square foot of the interior panels of said cabinet.
Anyone got good examples of the pervasive works of the Ministry of Crap design?

The new ringpulls on certain canned products are an absolute pain in the arse, or the fingers rather to operate.
You end up leaving a deep gouge in the top of your poor little pinky if you ever try it.
The most successful way to open these crap cans is to use the handle of a spoon, but thats got its own problems, as 9 times out of 10, it gives way with a pop and chucks the cans contents all over you.
Bad ,very bad.

Milk jugs and teapots at motorway service stations which, when an attempt is made to pour into a cup, spill their entire contents over the table while putting nothing whatsoever in the cup.
No forgetting - anything from the Innovations catalogue.

The bugger is almost impossible turn unless you have fingers like Frank Bruno (good job I dont do nail extensions) and then you have to put the key back in and wiggle it off. Still I am pleased to say the helpless girlie bit still works - and while I am here - many thanks to the rather nice lad in the shiny Merc who helped me at the Shell Garage on the A120 and the chappie in the BMW on the A12 and the........
actually this could have it's uses.

actually this could have it's uses.Since I nicked the 'Ministry of Crap Design' thing from Ben Elton, it was only a matter of time before these devices were mentioned..

But, you forgot the napkins which don't pickup the errant liquids because they have the absorption characteristics of an armoured car..
Yes, my friends... alas, I was once an admirer of Ben Elton's stand up work...

yes... thought this topic was going onto familiar ground...

Wine bottles, or rather the bit of wood in your way. Once had a bottle that broke 2 cheap screws. So me and my mates decided to knock the top off and strain it through a tea strainer with a tissue in it.
Ticket dispenser at the deli in super markets.
Hotel breakfast warmers, the ones under the lamps that produce fried eggs you can bounce back to your table.
VHS
Ickle Chef, any more than 1 car in the park and they have a rush on.
Bird books, the little buggers scarper before you can shoot them to identify unlike insect books but splatterd bugs are sometimes just as hard to identify in the crease of your size 10's

What???? Are you insane? these are GREAT, the cat moans for food, get a can and its open within seconds, no need to find a can opener and waste 10 mins. Oh, while on the subject, how do you open a can (like a can of cat food) without a can opener? Tried everything, nothing works.
