This kid gives us younger drivers a bad name - found on the Peugeot Sport Club... (you won't be able to reply unless you sign up for the forum)
I dont know if it is just me or whether everyone does it, although no one really does it to me!!
PUTTING YOUR FOOT DOWN WHEN SOMEONE OVERTAKES YOU!!!
I get tremendous pleasure in doing this, especially when you get some stuck up women in her BMW Z3 2.2, try to come past when you are doing 60 mph and you just gently press the throttle to the floor while in fifth in ur pugy 1.6 and she is stuck looking a right prat, hahahahaha,
any one else do this, and have any intersting stories to tell??
I think many people try this when I try and 'take them, to some degree or other. I think the important point is to expect it and make sure that one has sufficient "go" in reserve to complete the manouver successfully and safely, and always be prepared to abort if the other party really does mess about. (I find it hard to believe that a 1.6 pug in 5th is going to have the pick-up to stop someone going past if they want to, in any case).
Many people just don't like being overtaken, and this particularly applies [gross generalisation, sorry] to certain makes & models. [I think we've covered this in the past w.r.t. tailgating etc]

A lot of people have moaned about this, but I overtake all the time and I've never had this happen to me... even in the Primera..
maybe it's because in that car I tend to use unconventional overtaking techniques rather than the IAM approved methods.. when you have a car that lacks straight line accelerative grunt you have to take advantage of being able to come out of bends and roundabouts with much more momentum than your target.
either way, I've never know this to happen..

they are having a laugh. Christ, you must be a very lucky man. Happens all the time. The most irritating occasions are when overtaking someone who is part of a queue, and the gap you had earmarked to slot into miraculously dissappears as you overtake. V. dangerous and annoying.

I got quite good at that in my old 998cc mini 30, its good fun when you get it right.
Only had it happen to us once when we were in the landy, my bro in law was driving and it was some max muppet in a saxo with mates in the car, bro closed the gap hoping to rip his wing mirror off, but he sh*t himself, slammed on the brakes and stopped at the side of the road, got out of the car and had a bit of a breather. We turned round in a layby and went back as Joe (bro in law) was a bit peeved. I didn't hear what he said but he's 6ft 5 and a PTI in the army and I wouldn't want to mess with him. B-O-B didn't look too pleased though.

Its not only max power twats in peugeots either. I had this happen to me a few years ago.
Me: Mk3 Golf Gti 16v.
Tosser: brand new E class mercedes.
Do people really derive pleasure from this sort of behaviour? They need to get a life.
Needless to say i don't have the problem when i overtake in the esprit - especially if i'm in 'throttle adrenalin' mode.

I've had it at some point with all my vehicles.
Doesn't really effect things much in the TVR or on the bike but in the skoda it has been known to force me to abort the overtake. The most annoying is when you are slowly overtaking on a dual carriage way or motorway.
Some people are just a:censore:holes who seem to take it as a personal affront.

This is precisely what I was explaining to friends as I thrashed them into Cambridge along the A14. In my throbbing 1.4 Fiat.
The TVR offered the thrill of acceleration. Lots of it in fact. The Fiat, by contrast, offers only "the thrill of maintaining momentum". That frisson of excitement as you get the drop on your prey, having exited the last corner on the doorhandles, all four skinny tyres struggling manfully for grip, driver's door threatening to pop open at any point 'cos you're leaning elbow, knee, and right ear on it so hard. If the window were open, you'd have your right arm out with a riding crop being enthusiastically administered (to the car, that is, before some wag get's an "oooer" in).
Anyway, said friends were in fact my band, and they liked the phrase so much, it became our album title (Shameless plug #2 for those that didn't see the first one: the thrill of maintaining momentum)

I have this motto, "You can never have enough power", makes overtaking nice and relaxing.
My kid bro has the same motto, but he rides a bike, Honda Fireblade.
Hes had all the usual sorts of stuff including this kind of action too.
His usual response is to kick their wing mirrors right off the car.

er like that I would have no problems in sticking his head up his ass. usually happens to me with BMW 320's on the motorway. I'm sure those people driving them who do this (it's not mandatory for a driver of said trusty Bavarian repmobiles to do this but it's not uncommon) do so because I'm driving what appears to be an 'old model' mercedes...
Rarely causes an issue though given the massive grunt the c36 has at its disposal, even better when I'm 4 up, and they're not!
