)Okay people - let me just put this into perspective.
You have just been the victim of media spin. I will explain.
The tax break in question is a change in the section 179 code for the depreciation of capital business assets. In other words, under the code, currently, businesses can deduct up to $ 25,000 for (very important) any capital investment into equipment immediately, instead of taking that deduction over a period of time.
What Bush's plan does is it raises that limit.
The spin part is this - the media are assuming that every business in the US will immediately run out and buy an SUV. Utter nonsense!
Personally, I plan to use the $ 75,000 (if passed) to (1)upgrade our computers at work and (2)invest in a higher tech telephone system, etc. and I would say that my plans are more in line with what main stream business will do with the "break"
Watch out for the spin merchants - they will get you every time

Edited to Add: By the way - what they (media spin doctors) have not reported is that for the first time in about a decade - under Bush NOT Clinton - the emissions standards have been raised (CAFE) for SUV and light duty trucks.
