Winning back my cat
Discussion
Right now I've got not a huge amount of work on, not much dosh in the pot and tax bills looming up. Do I care? Not much - these probs always seem to take care of themselves.
What's really P155!NG me off big style right now is Jasper, my ten year old moggy, who I've had since he was a rescued kitten.
Or rather, the lack of him, because somebody else seems to have taken a shine to him, and now we only ever seem to see him at mealtimes, if we're lucky. When he does come back he stinks of cigarette smoke, so it's not like he's out chasing vermin or anything. He used to be a really friendly chap, always around and up for a bit of a play - now, if he shows up at all he spits and cusses if we so much as go near him.
The only pleasure we get out of him for the last four months is paying for his grub and the vet bills.
We haven't got a clue where he's going. I'd thought of buying some of the telemetry gear used for tracking falcons, and fitting that to his collar, but it would cost £600-odd quid.
Anyone got any cheaper suggestions? This is upsetting Mrs Y and the girls as least as much as it's making me angry.

Go with that.. Cats are very good at stuffing themselves silly then 5 minutes later at someone else's house swaering blind no one loves them and that they've not been fed for weeks. Try confining to barracks.
Buy air freshener first. Cat litter in not pleasant..
get a tag for it's collar that says
'Feed this cat and you die. I know where you live....'
Instead of spending £600 on a tracking system (
...that!) why not just follow it?! Get your urban camoflauge gear on, bit of the old black face paint, a fetching black assault vest complete with a set of your kids binoculars, and a 'blue peter' style set of night vision goggles, and away you go. Then you might get fed as well

The tag idea is sound, though possibly worded differently. I've tried following him but he's onto me instantly, and just sits under a car till I get cold and go away.
If I tried the full camo thing here in north Bristol I'd get shot by the state police.
Is it's name Pickle? Woops, thats my cat, just the same, except we don't let it out (living on a non-cat friendly complex you see). Where the f#ck do they put the food?
Feed them, ten minutes later and it's simper simper I'm soooo hungry, WTF? Our other cat has this delicious habit of thrashing down everything in her bowl (chilli's, pizza, crisps, champagne (!) you name it) and puking it up ten minutes later.
And then eating it. Nice. Cat's, can't live with them.... Bit like birds really....

If you decide to do this, may I recommend the wood based cat litter (costs £7.99 for a 30 litre sack, one cat will get through about a 1.5 litres a day), the number two will still smell until you scoop it out and flush it, but the wood soaks up the piss and the smell very well
I know this because as well as our two indoor cats we foster cats for the Cats Protection, and I deal with 5 litter trays a day

This is the reason I don't have cats! They bring in all sorts of wierd shit, and dump it in the hall expecting you, the slave to said cat, to pick the fecking thing up and leave it where they can find it. They then go in a huff when you dispose of it, by lobbing it out the window, and if your a really good shot, you'll land it on your neighbours freshly washed and polished car
Dogs, they smell, and they have bad breath, but at least they leave the wierd shit at the door

a bit OT, but what do you do with the fullers earth type cat litter when it needs emptying? The past few years we have be making a pile of it at the far end of our garden (field) amongst our assorted rusting cars. Its not very nice really - I've suggested we just double wrap it and put it out with the rest of the rubbish every week, is that what other people with smaller gardens do?
Oh sorry is this a car forum? I thought it was the cat forum

Put it out with the rubbish. It just forms a big clay clump, been there etc.

Following on from griff2be's thread about cats bringing in mice, shrews, etc, our cats have been doing the same, up to 6 a day.
Not a problem - the dog clears up the mess by eating them.
Except yesterday, when he hoovered up a mouse the cat had brought in and swallowed it. Problem was, it was still running about the floor at the time.
Poor mouse...

Use the wood based stuff, you can filter the brown stuff out and flush it, then mix the remainder with grass clippings etc to make compost
Alternatively, bag it up and put it in the bin, it isn't as heavy as the fuller's earth type

Jasper's a useless hunter. There's plenty of birds around here, but the only thing he's ever dropped proudly at my feet was an earthworm. Although I'm pleased he leaves the birds alone.
Good suggestions though - more here in 30 minutes than anyone else (vet etc.) that I've talked about this to.

LMAO.
Yep. Give me a dog anyday. But the problem is they need walkies. Just throw a cat out the window and it'll entertain itself for days, feed itself if necessary and come home when its bored..probably driving that Tuscan. (Wife loves cats. I'd love a dog. Answer = no pets)
