So there I was on my way up the A30 near Okehampton today plowing along at about 95 when the other way comes a Merc flashing me like mad. Haha I thinks plod and slow down. 1/2 mile later traffic allmost at a standstill and guess what.
A fox hunt had wandered on to the main carriage way of one of the busiest and fastest streches of A road in the country. Dogs and peole dressed funny everywhere. Now i'm not anti hunt or anything but thats taking the piss.
On a scale of 1 to 10 for dangerous thats way out on its own. Daft rich toff twats. Thats all i've got say.

I got nabbed by a roadworks camera along that road just before Christmas, funny thing though, don't hate the cameras as much as I hate blood sports and the scum that take part in them

I would have thought that there are so few that it's not exactly worth worrying about - especially compared to the income it generates for rural areas.
If you are really concerned about hunted animals suffering, you should start campaigning against cats in UK, as they are by far the biggest predator. They also really enjoy tormenting their prey.
For the record, I don't participate in blood sports, nor have a cat, but I am not against either.

Shouldnt have been on a major road in the first place. Thats suicidally dangerous for everyone involved.
If you have a problem with bloodsports how about picking on angling? Far more popular than foxhunting and there are FAR more animal fatalities.
Oops my mistake, as anglers are all "salt of the earth" types who you have no issue with, and fish arent cute and fluffy...

Ok, so I'm country born so here's my 2p.
Foxes are a pest at times, and probably (note probably - I don't know for sure) should be controlled. Unfortunatley, in the real world they are not going to die at home, peacfully in bed with their cubs and grandcubs around them. They will get old, lame, loose a few teeth and probably either be got by either a bigger fox, a dog or maybe a few years ago by my old moggie. Thats the ones that manage to avoid cars disease and starvation.
So, generally, if you are a fox its not going to be a quick and painless end.
Just because they are going to die in an unpleasant way does not IMHO give us the right to offer them another equally unpleasant way to die.
If they have to be controlled, I'm sure there are less inhumane ways to do it. Ghandi I believe said something along the lines that you can measure the civilisation of a country by how it treats its animals.

Being from that neck of the woods (actually I'm from cornwall but thats another debate Kernow etc etc etc) I ahve to say that in my experience the vast majority of the local hunts around dartmoor (Where I also used to live) were made up of the local pony club and a few farmers. Not exactly the toffs then. However having seen the general damage that the passing hunt leaves in its wake (on occasion) I'd say it's a pretty darn inefficient way of 'containing the fox population'.
Perhaps this lot were trying to keep costs down by chasing the fox onto the A30 where the foxes main enemy (the car) would their work for them
Were the cops there to sort it out and get the daft horsey lot of what is one of Devons busiest roads?

Lots of people say lots of uninformed things and the one or two that talk some sense from some position of insight get shouted down by the closet class warriors (snobs; inverse or otherwise), the animal welfarists and the people who'd ban everything that they don't personally want to do.

Apologies to the new guys but you can probably tell we've had this many times before and it's never pretty. And do not digress into horses on the road.
