Blunkett fears asylum backlash
UK society is like a 'coiled spring', says Blunkett
Home Secretary David Blunkett fears that controversy over asylum seekers could end up with people "taking the law into their own hands".
While he wanted people's concerns to be openly debated, he warned that the UK as a society is "like a coiled spring".
Mr Blunkett was speaking just days after a row blew up over Home Office moves to use a hotel in Kent as an asylum reception centre.
Asked by the New Statesman magazine about the connection made by some people between terrorists and asylum seekers, the home secretary responded: "I'm worried about tension and frustration spilling over into the disintegration of community relations and social cohesion.
"I'm worried about people taking the law into their own hands."
But he stressed: "I want the debate in the open, I want people's fears to be genuinely reflected, I want to be able to ensure they know the facts and get the information on which they can make a judgment."
So, are they finally listening to the country's outrage over this problem then? Will they do anything about it?

They seem to be very caring sharing all of a sudden..
Rolling back their war on motoring, pursuing middle lane morons, now this acknowledgement of the problems of asylum...
Perhaps they're really having to push the boat out in making us think they're listening to us, all in teh hope that they'll get some support for this fcuking war..
or am I just too cynical?

So, are they finally listening to the country's outrage over this problem then? Will they do anything about it?
Yes, they will give them their own county (enclave), a couple of grand a month, a house and car. They will then up our tax's to pay for it and assign a seperate police force to ensure they are secure in their new homes!
I think that tuffer has hit the nail on the head here. The biggest perceived problem is the cost, not the fact that one of these people has turned out to be a terrorist.
We see millions being spent on the problem when there are many aspects of our existing society that should really be sorted out first

marki said: i`ve said it before about Blunket , but he really seems to be the only one of Billys mob who has any idea about what the people feel.
. He only went doen to Westminster when he had put the Supertram in (novel public transport system that goes from where there are no people to where no people want to go
), spent all of our money on the student games, then closed down all of the sporting facilities to pay for it, and banned competitive sport from our schools. Not really the mark of a man that understands what his people want (IMHO obviously)

Here's a modest proposal.
Through the centuries there has been massive civil unrest and racist, anti-semitic pogroms, including the holocaust. Following that, a new country was formed, where all the Jewish/Zionist people could go to create their own society, free from the persecutions of the past. Minor problem with the Palestinians, but there you go.
So how about we annex a region of another country, say Libya, and call it Asylia, and all asylum seekers could head there. Minor problem with Libyans who live there just now, but you cant have everything. Perfect society, since they're all asylum seekers, so they obviously wouldn't persecute each other. Free to create whatever state they like living in, so it would have to be better than the UK, right Mr. Hamza?
No problems left in the UK with asylum seekers, they all have freedom in Asylia.

Hey dont miss quote me , i said "Out of Billys mob"
Perhaps what he's is getting at is that Blunkett's the only one who'll call it as he sees it rather than poncing around with reticent PC language, avoiding in so doing failing to communicate or achieve anything like the rest of them do..
Problem with Blunkett is that the PC mob all lay into him when he does make one of these 'common sense' proclamations... it'll be his undoing one day, such is the nature of the current political establishment.
