Discussion
Have been thinking about this over the last few days. Why don’t PH extend to the world of TV? there are so many people with so many cars, contacts, expertise, knowledge and much more surely a TV program could be created that would work on screen for both enthusiasts and dreamers?
Has anyone ever considered it before?
If its going to happen then id be happy to give up my time to help out if I can.

This has go me thinking. Clearly Petrol Ted would be the anchor on the show, but who could we have as co-presenters? or for weekly slots?
ideas so far.
Carzee - In the papers/On the Net, tied into a weekly Rant.
Flasher & Bennno - Co hosting two sided audience debates(ie having an arguement with minor audience participation).
There are loads of other options, who would like to nominate either themselves or another PHer to appear on the goggle box?

Special MadCop advice section:
"Yer nicked, mate"
Special Mungo pub and pull report
SGirl can dispense information from the female perspective...
McNab can run a section that features the practical experience side of motor racing...
Hey this is actually starting to sound a good idea. Maybe I should contact BBC America to see if they will pick it up?
Cheers

Ha, thanks mate. Here's my first report and recommendations:
"Come see the races, don't drink the beer"

If people are actually serious about it. Maybe a meeting to see if it can happen? and if we can really get enough scope for 12 shows + ?
The only thing is, when would it be broadcast? There's no way some of the stuff you find on here could appear before 9pm... Some of it could never be aired at all!! Oh, but then again - maybe a quick fix for that one would be to take away Flasher and Bennno's image manipulation software.
I think it all sounds like a great idea. Maybe CheapShopTart could do a Clothes Show kind of thing?
Actually, I think it should be a 24 hour type thing (kind of like the forum is already). We could do the more benign stuff during the day and cover more adult topics later on at night.
Maybe give Mungo a 2:00am report slot:
This is Mungo from downtown London and me and the birds would like to say, we lurve you all...

9 o'clock it is then If a pilot is made then it can be taken round the various broadcasters, start at the top and work our way down. BBC, ITV, Channel4, Channel 5 and if worst comes to worst I have a link to Granada M&M not a chance they will say no. especially if we scatter a few scantily clad femails around the studio. | ![]() |

Good idea Ernest! Except for one small, fundamental flaw....
You need to catch Mungo at about midnight if you're going to get him to actually broadcast anything and not just kiss the camera and declare undying love for all PHers while trying to find the "x" key on his keyboard.
But there's a thought now - you could do a series of different locations: Mungo in Manchester, Mungo in Nottingham, Mungo in...
Maybe a comparison of the price of drinks and the quality and forthcoming-ness of the "ladies" in the clubs?? >> Edited by SGirl on Sunday 26th January 13:53
Methinks it would be hard to get major networks to broadcast some (all?) of the content, but why not a webcast.
Stick with me on this one. I've always thought that it would be a great idea for Ted to commision someone to do a televised road test and then link it to the site as a download. Maybe Graham Bell or someone.
Are there any budding TV producer wannabes out there in pistonhead land that could produce/film it?
Or would it be too costly in terms of time and bandwidth.
I dunno, its just a thought.
The idea came from an idea I had one night. The origional idea was to make a no holds barred TV prgram about anything (the more contrivertial the better) that the major networks would NEVER touch. A kind of thinking mans Jackass.
You could have articles like "why YOU should burn down a scamera" and "the real cost of the freemarket" etc etc....
The idea the webcast would not be broadcast but would spread through word of mouth.
Of course for it to work to you'd have to have some top notch content.

The broadcasting part of the process isn't really the most expensive part (you only have to look at some of the channels on sky!! Very low budget, like Games Network, Motors TV, GOD tv!! etc etc)
The bulk of cost is in production, you need a whole lot of material to fill a channel, even if it's only on air 12hours a day. Programmes have to be shot, edited, produced, a channel identity has to be created, such as logos, stings etc etc

Absolutely. Methinks the general public could identify more with a Mungo than a Stig. If his reports draw them in, then they would be forced to watch the rest of the show and see that speed matters

I reckon some Satelite TV channels would be interested in a series of half hour shows though, showing PH's cars, races on track days, mechanical hints and tips etc..... I mean theres a wealth of lush cars at hand via the forums so the programme would be spoilt for choice.
One of the channels i work for is Bravo, and they luv stuff like that.
