Sony MZ-R55 minidisk problems..
Discussion
Basically, can't get the damm thing to record.. Borrowed it from a friend who can't remember how to use it either..
Hooked it up to the stereo, started to record a CD and it stopped after half a minute with the words 'Data Save' flashing on the display. Now its sat there refusing to even open up to allow me to remove the disk I put in to record.
Quick search of the web hasn't helped; anyone got one of these and know what to do with it?

Might help - http://listen.to/mz-r55
Or maybe - www.minidisc.org/mzr55_user_manual/manual.htm
Removing and then restoring all sources of power will get the eject working again - while it thinks it needs to write to the disc, it disables the eject slider/button (mine's an older R30). You'll lose whatever you recorded, but it sounds like maybe you've got a duff disc, or dirty record head, or just plain sick recorder.

Thanks.. This has been driving me mental.. Did a web search but these two sites are far better than the ones I found..
I had one of the first Walkman ones, an MZ R2 I think, and that packed up.Won't play anything now.
I've got a MDS-302 HiFi seperate that has semi packed up, anytime you want to update a track, i.e name, it wipes the disc.
And finally the only one that works properly a MDS JB920. Seperate.
