Just watched a BBC news article on the build up of troops in Kuwait.
Always believed that you could rely on the BBC for the truth, uuuummmm now appears that they are as sensastionalist as the daily sport. They ran a lengthy article on the "first British Troops" on Kuwait soil, what utter B*11**K's. British Troops, mainly RAF have been out their for the last 6-7 years, my wife even did a 4 month tour in 99 and I have a couple of mates still in the mob who have done 4 -5 tours in the last couple of years.
Appears the Blair propaganda machine has now reached into every corner and you can't trust anyone.
..........except PH of course.

..........except PH of course. ALL news agencies are prone to sensationalism, propaganda and governmental pressure. On the whole, the BBC is reasonably well balanced but it is not immune from these factors. When living in Ireland it was always interesting seeing the differemce in coverage given to events in Northern Ireland by BBC and Irish TV (RTE). For instance, if a British soldier was shot, on BBC he was "murdered", on RTE he was killed. If a political figure was killed, on BBC he was "murdered", on RTE he was "assasinated". The choice of words used by the BBC was based on direct instructions from the UK government. On many occasions, the BBC would have preferred to have used words like "assasination" and "killed", if only for variety, but were not allowed.
The Hampstead lefties of the BBC rarely get anything military remotely right - and if and when they do it usually represents a security breach 'cos they're too stupid to handle the news properly - but hey what's the surprise - the BBC choses what news to feed us and when and in what light - that's the main criteria for working there - monumental arrogance, a total lack of grasp of the license fee system and a life subscrption to the Grauniad. The BBC's agenda is to forge a society to their liking - also keeping the License Fee intact and rising ahead of inflation.

Too true; however, at least with Clarkson appearing on QT there is a sense of a teeny shaft of right wing light rectifying the immense imbalance to which you allude.
I blame the hosts of useless, unproductive, generally middle class intelligentsia who populate our 'regulatory' sectors.
Neither productive as actual labour or controlling wealth creation via the bourgoisie, these leeches inhabit the official channels of democratic subjegation
via the 'enforcement' arms of what might loosely be termed the civil service (tax inspectors, HSE officials, etc) and unofficially, as discussed above, running riot in their overprivileged, unelected roles as sh1t stirring media luvvies and champions of the proletariat for whom in truth, they behold with utter, hypocritical contempt.
A hugely right wing ethos in politics might purge us of these useless, self serving parasites.
I'm not holding my breath, though.

I'm sure the BBC lefties only wheel JT out because they think him a comedy figure, and believe people are laughing at him in the same way they laughed at Alf Garnett.

The 80s and most of the 90s bred the 'anti-Thatcher' legions but before them, comedic culture, although less sophisticated and generally softer, was less inclined to the ways of the Saylic and Eltonic 'right-on-ism.'
Mike Yarwood, Brucie, the unforgivable Jimothy Tarbuck et al; all dreadful old 19th holers, I realise but fundamentally right wing. Even at the scrag end of the humour market in the late 70s, even fledgling creations like Christoph Tarrant maintained a narcissistic complex which whatever else, could hardly be accused of being politically correct (or politically anything!)
Thus inconclusively analysed, I postulate a switch away from comedy via the ideological terrorism of political correction to something altogether less considered or meaningful in it's response and consequently more genuine and humourous.
Er, and so it will come to pass that the accepted 'norms' of mass societal responses (see the 'oohs' and 'aahs' at any un-PC remarks on QT over the last 20 years, for example) will be undermined and replaced with a more light hearted, less hyper sensitive national consciousness.
Of course, we'll have to ban lawyers and get Carzee or Petrol Ted to draft a formal constitution but I'm sure if the Americans can do it, so can we.

It's time to bring this behemoth to heel. I keep complaining about bias and demanding my licence fee back, but it never comes. Time for a boycott, methinks.
If Scot Chisholm is to be believed, his show on Talk Radio ran with 3 support staff. A similar BBC show employed 30. Greg Dyke and his buddies are taking us for a ride.

Going back to the original post, when saying "Troops" to most people this refers to Infantry and/or any Ground Forces, rather than a mention of any particular branch of the services, besides, the last thing you need to advertise is the placement of resources.
BTW not defending any bias, but I'd never take the news from one source, for one thing I'd never learn the truth that way
