Robot Wars - PH team?

OK - given I've been maxing out on Robot Wars since I got BBC3 - is anyone up for forming a team?

Up to Ted if he would let us form a "PH" team, but given the talent that is on here engineering wise surely we could come up with something better than "HypnoDisc II" which is demolising everything in its path?

Anyone up for it?

Ive been talking about his with my dad for a while and Im sure we would both be up for it.

Cant contribute much on the professional mechanical side though but enthusiasm.

been there and almost done it! me and 3 pals from college did make a 'hammer action' droid (sp?) as a unoffical project,

I would be happy to help if there was a team wanting a member (am good at building things) but i don't have long thining hair or goofy teeth*

count me in.........do they let you use explosives? saw it last night and some team had entered an electric wheel chair with a dummy old lady, this was torched and then had a fridge dropped on it, marvelous stuff and very unPC

Yum! First we should find an agreement on the general design of the robot.
IMHO a construction made of cast iron would be the best base for that project. And it'll add some bulldog spirit

Of course, we should do some collision simulation on Pro/Mechanica before.

My youngest son has participated in the 1st Dutch Robot Wars with team MadMen, which was recorded simultaneously with the 5th UK Robot Wars aswell as with the 2nd Dutch Robot Wars as member of Team TieRIP, which was recorded simultaneously with the 6th UK Robot Wars. His Team, TieRIP is now preparing their Bot for the next Series so if you need any help in the competition just cry wolf.

OK - seems that we've got "critical" mass here. I work just opposite the "Robot Wars" production company, so I'll pop in and get the "robot wars guide" and go from there.

I've got a design, worked out basic conservation of momentum stuff and it should be ITRO 10 time more destructive than anything this year, let me know if you want a chat

PS up for doing any of the chassis/running gear design, welding, assembly etc

OK - can certainly help with the contribution of materials - eg 4.5mm 600 tensile steel sheet, could help with laser cutting at a stretch but I think others have got more immediate access to the kit (v. good for armour) down to brushed finish 0.4 stainless (as in what you have in your kitchen) and pretty much anything inbetween.
Also start of my career was as a gunmaker and specialised in high pressure pnuematic "delivery systems" (don't ask) so sure I could come up with something suitably evil there.
I do know that the production company is quite cautious when it comes to some of the proposed weapons of mass destruction though. I think they have nightmares about circular saw blades skimming into the expectant crowd..........

Incidentally, if it's a "Pistonheads" team, doesn't the name suggest an interesting design, on the "pneumatic projectile" theme?
