One day of snow and the place grinds to a halt...
Discussion
Grrrrrrr.... some spraying of snow in good old stockport.. today.. and it just took my bus..
35 mintues, to travel a distance that would normally take 2...
WHY WHY WHY???
The whole place grinds to a halt after a bit of snow..
I suppose it was funny, the fact that the hourly bus would be an hour late.. .even funnier with it being a circular

And it took ITV 15 minutes (yes half the news) to tell the whole country that london was snowed under. "Snow brings the country to a grinding halt". No, the south east, but the news is broadcast in london so that's all that matters.
Aberdeen and the surrounding area is/has been under a good 4to6 inches of snow and we're still motoring around fine.
Was creeping up the M74 yesterday and people were still howling past in the non-existant outside lane. Just because you've got 4WD doesn't mean your brakes are any better in snow. One accident is all it takes to shut a motorway. Then everyone gets pissed off and just leaves their cars on the motorway (M11) so the gritters can't get through.
...and calm.

Basil Brush said: The stupid thing is that this seems to happen most winters, and after levels of snow fall that most countries would laugh at. What fell here yesterday would be considered a light frost in Sweden.![]()

I live in Sweden and couple of weeks ago we got around 12-16" of snow in one night , in fact it improved the driving situation because people used indicators and mirrors and started to be a little more considerate .
To be fair to the UK its not often the south really gets any snow is it , over here its a given that you will get it ,also its "The Law" to have winter tyres fitted from 1st Dec to the 1 st March and that is a big reason why it all just keeps moving along
Basil Brush said: I was actually talking about Leeds rather than the South. We get snow every year in varying quantities and still grind to a halt when it happens. I accept your point about the South, although it was forecast.
OK i had the feeling that they had the problem sorted opp North
