Very O/T how much is Frank the cat worth?
Discussion
As you may be aware our cat is something of an international superstar.

I've just had an email from an Italian cat food co asking if we'd like him to become the 'face' of blah blah italian catfood (no that is not their name). If so what would we want for it....
Err I have no idea...are there any ad people here who could give me an idea?
thanks

Bonce why do you insist on answering Davids questions in a thread when you sit the other side of an office partition ? Has your office lost the skills of verbal communication or is it so you can skulk off to the bog and avoid getting twatted with his ruler in the delay between you posting and David reading ???
As for Frank fcuk knows.

I work in advertising, occasionally on a premium pet food account.
They aren't that generous when it comes to paying their 'artistes' for ads, so I wouldn't ask for too much.
Find out exactly what rights they want (packaging/TV/press ads) and for how long. This depends on what you could get.
For a year's press ad exposure, I suppose 2-5k would be good. Harry, the original Safeways Urchin was paid 20k for a year's worth of TV ads and he isn't a cat

Can frank eat with his paw? ala arthur or is he just a wolf it down type cat?
is it a good cat food or would you have to starve him to get him to touch the stuff?
How many free tins are you going to get?
All these questions may change the price asking for. I know Arthur was worth quite a bit. (forget how much but I know he was catnapped) Danger money for Frank!

I've used Dogstars (www.dogstars.co.uk/) but that was just for use in commercials - they might be able to help though. You really do need to find out usage - check if it's Italy only or worldwide, then if it's packaging only, packaging and promotion, personal appearances etc. etc., then email domster or me (I think we're the only ones in advertising on PH?).
I once made a commercial with Arthur, but that was when I was just starting out (about 36 years ago - Jesus, yes it was that long ago!)

I always thought that in a negotiation, the first side to mention a number invariably came off worst -- so try and get them to start the bidding.
But then again, I always end up paying sticker-price, so what do I know?
