A bus stops at a Bus Station
A train stops at a Train Station
At my desk I have a Work Station
what more can I say.

Aha. But those modes of transport never stay in their stations very long. And when they are in the station you're not allowed to flush the toilet!

I mean - how far do these similarities go!

The analogy runs deeper!

Today I arrived late at my workstation.
My collegue is not coming in at all today.
The workstation opposite me is closed for engineering works!

On a pub payphone the order in which you insert money, dial and speak is never as you expect.

Huh. Don't talk to me about emptying the bogs on trains. New trains are fitted with tanks, to hold the crud until some chimpo can be bothered to empty it. But if they get full, they have an overflow, and older trains of course don't have the tanks. Hence you're not supposed to flush whilst in a station.
You'll have heard about these detailed inspections that are carried out on the tracks: one of my jobs is servicing the trolleys that are pushed by hand along the rails to find defects.
What joy. Especially first thing Monday morning.

I just licked chicken and veg pie off my fingers to type this.... yum yum!
