2+2 Sports Cars

As ever I'm tinkering with the idea of another car, something semi-sensible with back seats for the baby and baby-to-be.
Porsches have started crossing my mind, as I've seen some with the space, which type are these (not an export in German cars I'm afraid).
Any other good 2+2s that people are keen on?

The Cerbera? 
Mazda RX7's are nice. or if you like classics then a Lotus Elan +2 or Elcat or Elite or Excel are all pretty good. Or a Cerbera of course, or a Morgan 4/4, or an old Datsun 240z, or a Jag XJS would be fun and cheap, or a Lambourghini Espada if you've got a big garage or a Ferrari 308GT4 or Mondial.

Have you thought about a Skyline?
Plenty of space in the back of those, they even have a nice large boot.

A 2+2 Fairlady turbo?
The obvious choice of a cerbera!
A Tuscan R with optional (small) rear seats (are they still offering those?)
An RS6? (I know its not a 2+2! Perfect for any family outing and there is that twin turbo V8 under the bonnet...)
BMW M5? Again plenty of grunt and lots of space.
Or there is always one of the dozens of 911 variants.

Having had a good look at a Cerbera the other day I would only consider one if my children had no legs. Fortunately they have so that rather ruled out a Cerbera in my future.
Remember that children grow very quickly. 2+2s are useless once children get to about three, also the little blighters tread all over the seat backs and vomit over everything. We've had coupes with two children and even that's a PITA, for them as well as me. They've just got no respect for the leatherwork, and get their schoolbags tangled up with everthing.

Yep
The roll cage/ side impact bars/ GRP body make it pretty damn safe actually. Having seen a fair few smashed ones (including our own) its certainly good at taking impacts. The GRP takes alot of an impact, which leaves the rest of the car intact. In a big crash the cerb will be unrecognisable, but you would be able to walk away.

With very small kids (<3), it's not so much them as the associated crap you have to drag around that gives you the headache. Car seats and buggies are the worst; car seats are the same size as an ejector seat in a fighter plane (just as well I don't run Mothercare 
), and I doubt they or a buggy fit in a 911. Tony_996 had a buggy in his (Hi Tony) by putting down one of the rear seats and laying it on top of that- you can't do that with 2 kids. No problem whatsoever with a 456, but that's a bigger car and out of budget.
My kids, 4 & 7, fit quite comfortably in the back of the 996, the older one uses the seat as is, the younger one with a standard seat booster. I know they're happy too, because they fight over who lays their head on the seat divider... If you had a 911, you'd be using the rear seats in exceptional circumstances only.

Arguably, and I know this from experience, should you have a 'fast' car anyway if you have kids?
I used to ride bikes, and that was frowned upon by the family as I was a single parent. Then I bought a TVR...

As long as I supply my wife with a brand new car every 9-12 months that is capable of carrying the little one around, the in-laws don't seem to mind what cars I get as toys thankfully!
Just get my Dad asking what I want a fourth car for...
I'm basically toying with ideas now for replacing my aging Celica runabout, and want something fun, but at the same same very reliable, as I've the TVR for serious fun.
My head says Audi S4, BMW M5 (although too expensive) or similar, but my heart says Porsche....

Given the budget I need, my head wants an RS6 or M5, and my heart a Cerbera, 996 or Skyline...
However, given the 20K budget, and the impending 2nd child, I'd be happy to have something from Audi beginining with S, and not less than 4.
