Where can I get my Crash Helmet painted?

Does anyone know where I could get a decent paint job at a reasonable price done on my Crash Helmet?

Don't want anything too fancy just something to brighten up a plain white lid.

Whereabouts are you? My mate runs Cleveland Bike Spray: despite the name (and the fact that he used to paint fighter jets for a living) he will do any kind of funky paintjob you want, on a helmet, pushbike, motorcycle or even a TVR if you wave enough wad at him!

The lids on that site look cool. Thing is if you turn up to a track day in gear like that, even if your good people will laugh

I thought the solvents in the paint ruined the lid too?

Wonder how much it would cost to get my car painted with a union jack. Worked for austin powers

I once investigated this with Dream Machine and for an admittedly slightly complex image, it was going to cost £300 - so I decided I quite liked plain black after all...

I realise this suggestion is a bit late now. But in future buy your helmets at motor cycle shows
( Alexander Palace and the NEC ) You can get top of the range Carbon/Kevlar helmets at knock down prices in an enormous range of colour schemes from pleasant to down right outrageous. I have raced for years and always get my heplmets this way.

They don't advise painting polycarbonate lids. But I don't see the problem with painting GRP ones: after all, nobody says that respraying your TVR will suddenly turn the bodyshell to paper, do they?

I've painted my ancient Firebird a few times. Gloss black, with a slogan on the back:
"Fear not the Reaper
Only the good die young...."

Scares the sh1t out of pillions...

I'd try asking in a few of the local bike shops if they know of anyone.

I had one done years ago in Southampton by a lad who was doing an animation degree and actually used my helmet as part of his final thesis, it was an incredible masterpiece all based around Stella Artois his a hand holding the can bursting out the back and pouring beer to fill the helmet up and big Stella crests on each side, the chin bar carried the "reasuringly expensive" logo which I thought was appropriate for both Stella and Arai, I've looked at loads of the big name jobs since and never actually seen another helmet that has had so much time and care laboured on it, and it cost me a couple of hundred quid which was a bargin. Students do have a use for somethings and often will put more into a job.

The last contact details I had for him were that he'd set up and was doing it for a living after he finished his degree, but if he's still going I don't know try
