A. Mannings.. Bargepole, touch with.. ?
Discussion
Well I've been one of those people who has defended Mannings low policy rates in the past and have had insurance with them for the S and for the Chimaera.
As some of you will know I changed up to the Chim in September 2002, and at the time phoned up Mannings for a change of car on the existing S2 policy (having sold the S to CarZee). Anyway, all was well and they sent me through a covernote; originally one for a £22k Cerbera, but a correct one arrived a week or so later.
As a few more weeks went by I phoned them to see if there was anything I needed to do information-wise etc, and was assured that there wasn't and cover was in place, all was well and I have been driving the car ever since.
So I've just recently received my Roadtax renewal form, and guess what.. the only proof of insurance I have is the expired covernote, I was never sent a revised policy document and had forgotten about chasing it.. D'oh ! Knowing Mannings record on administration I wasn't holding my breath on getting it soon either..
However the story got better this morning when I got my policy renewal notice and quote in the post from Mannings. Guess what, the policy renewal is for the S series, not for the Chimaera so it looks like I've spent the last 3 months since the covernote expired, driving uninsured as they didn't actually amend the policy
I will not be using Mannings for the Chim again, as despite their low quotes, I don't trust them or their administration to help out favourably in the event of a claim.
Matt.

Pods, can't be arsed with the hassle really, its Mannings loss..if I'd had an accident it would be a different matter.
I'll just re-insure with another broker today... the policy's only got 4 weeks left to run and the original S series one was a Classic car policy so theres no issue of NCB.
Cheers

Hahahahaaaaaaaaa! Sunninghill quoted £1150 for 3000 miles worth of classic insurance on my S.
yum said: I switched to sunninghill.
Mannings and Sun Alliance both offered the same cover for well under £300..
Thankfully, I went for the latter. Probably because the former were affiliated with the TVRCC
