just when i'd lost all faith in drivers today i witness something that has made me alter my views... well a little bit...

was driving earlier tonight at the back of a steady moving line of traffic when i was caught up by a peugeot 405 with its huge front foglights on despite being a totally clear night, i let him follow me for about 30 seconds but the lights were really starting to annoy me as they were very bright!!!

so whilst keeping my right foot on the accelorate i lightly place my left foot on the brakes for about a 10 second period...

and to my SURPRISE numpty boy behind switches off his foglights and we carry on our merry way!!!

this is the first time i've seen such a couteous gesture!!!

It happens ... I've been known to leave mine on by accident (I had a car, a Primera, with controls that were easy to knock on without realising) and so I'd switch them off if I got some gesture () etc.

I used this technique for the first time today with a big white gas bottle carrying van.
IT WORKS!!

more patience than me, I just stand on the anchors after a while! (not much effect though as mini brakes are more a demonstration of intention rather than actually slowing you down)

LOL!!!

normally it pisses me off, i think its 'cos i was taking my car to the garage and was worrying about the bill i will recieve in a few days that i DIDN'T get pissed off...

to be fair, in my mum's rover you can sometimes hit the foglight switch instead of the rear-demist switch but it only has rear foglights...

and also, if it was a genuine mistake how did he immediately know what i was getting at by holding my foot on the brakes!?!

If he's got crappy controls then he may be used to leaving them on by mistake, so as soon as he sees something like what you did (grammar?) he knows what to check for first.

From 1st hand experience

If someone is following me with their fogs on, I flash my rear fogs. They usually get the message and turn them off, but if its a scrote who thinks its cool I just leave my rear fogs on until they turn off

I had some numpty in a brand new BMW following me the other day, trying to blind me with his front fogs - so i stuck my rear ones on - BMWboy just backed off a bit so that my fogs didnt dazzle him and then stuck his full beams on! he made no attempt to turn his fogs off at all. Bastard!

Agree entirely, mate! I swapped my drums for drilled and grooved disks which are better, but they're never going to be up to modern car standards, are they? Not sure what I'll do when I put the 1380 in, either upgrade to 4 pots and vented disks, or just hang on and hope it stops eventually!

i did the brake light trick because i have no rear foglights in my car, if ever i'm driving my mum's car though, i put the rears on (only has rear fog lights)

Spare a thought for the poor bastards in Jap imports who *can't* turn the front fogs off....

I will rewire them soon, but I have other things to attend to first...

Suppose I could just take the bulbs out....

How do you get through the approval process/MOT with lights like that?
