Sorry Dennis mate, theres very little you can do.
The minimum period for making a claim for unfair dismissal is twelve months.
Did you receive any warnings, of written or verbal variety before this happened, or did they just say "on yer bike"?
Also, did you have a contract of employment with them (written) ?
If so theres a possiblity you could have them for breach of contract if they sacked you with no period of notice and if there was a statutory period on the contract.
Thats all i can think of for now, having gone thru the same bullshit meself mate, but in my case i wasted their asses!
All the best.

Bad luck there old chap.
Check with the CAB, but I would have to echo the advice already given here.
With the amount of time youve been employed there then you have very little legal protection.
Look on the bright side, Ive been temping for about the last 12 months now. I dont even have a notice period...

Not a lawyer but unfortunately I agree with those that say there is nothing you can do.
As a matter of interest though the security posts you hit, where they on the roadway/drive? If so can you also claim over the landowner? Installing posts in roadways that cannot be seen from a vehicle when close seems irresponsible.
Chris

Thanks for the support chaps
Hopefully (fingers crossed) got somthing else lined up the post was on brindley rd in manchester , to be honest i cant remember how i didnt manage to see it . numptyisum on my part i think .
thing is it was an accident and accidents happen all of the people i had spoken to from ADT said that the security posts were a waste of space and shouldnt be there , like i said from waht a have heard from my senior engineer they have been looking for a reason to get rid of me cos i live in dorset and they dont have much work down here
thing is ive now got experience on working on a lot of very expensive cars so it should help in getting a job in the same sort of field , As its the sort of job i enjoy , i couldnt sit in an office allday for fear of falling asleep
Ive also got a lot of knowledge in GPS systems and aspen software from my previous job , problem is finding work that requires this knowledge
Fingers crossed for a job soon as i dont want to sell my bike

You forgot to say that the airbag fault was because your technical support people couldn't give you the advice you needed, when you needed it.
A speaker falls out? wow!! end of the world? no.
And a minor prong - we all do it sometimes.
So no verbal warnings, no written warning prior to this seems very unreasonable. As does a 6 month probation.
Sounds to me like they needed someone for 3-4 months, didn't want to pay a contractor, so got a permie to do the job, and sacked him in order to avoid holiday/sick pay entitlement, and no redundancy payout. It's a typical tactic of unscrupulous business.
Can't see how a person can do dozens of quality installs, then get the elbow for a couple of minor faults??? c'mon guys, thinking caps on.
Chin up Denny.
