How are the gas prices in the UK?
In the USA we have had a 25 cent increase in the last 4-5 days. It was a combination of a very cold month with temps at or below 0 F. So a lot of resources are diverted to home heating production and the oil production strike in South America. I suppose the elevated terrorist alert and the Iraq situation had a little to do with it. Mostly it was the strike and the cold winter. Currently is at $1.75/gal up from $1.50/gal. West coast prices up a little more. There is increasing pressure on the goverment to release oil reserves on the market to drive the price down a bit.

Shell Optimax is currently 79.9p/litre => £3.60/UK Gallon => $5.84.....

local garage is 80.9 per litre (£3.67 per gallon) but I understand you can get it at 77.9 in the toon (£3.54 per gallon). not good with the mini only getting 18 MPG (fat carbs!)

UAE = 12p litre, was there when it was 8p and there was moaning when they were talking of a price increase, had a Grand Voyager hire car and was a £12 to fill the big tank from empty. Also a good place to buy your Mobil 1 but don't bring it back as hand luggage

Think it is nationwide, unless you live in Leicester, as my local does the same.

25-28p/litre here in OZ or approx USD$2.10 and most of that is govt taxes like everywhere else
We have had stable oil prices due to self sufficiency for many years. The only problem we have is the govt tied our prices to what they call "world parity" whatever that was suppose to mean became a windfall for the govt
My deepest sympathies are with you guys, especially when you consider the size of the oil fields in the North Sea
