Tony Blair has finally come out and said what we already knew, that he supports road charging.

The choice is yours, go down fighting or with a whimper.

"The Government's Commission for Integrated Transport has called for all cars to be fitted with a satellite tracking meter to charge motorists 45p in central London's rush hour, 3.5p per mile on motorways and 4.3p on other roads."

I will fight tooth and nail to stop this happening. B*llocks to the charge - which is bad enough - but 24 hour sattelite surveillance - You can think again!!!!!

Or...
Let 'em fit the thing, then rip it off after you've driven away

I am a bit unclear over the charge, do people living within the zone have to pay it?

Welcome to Blair's wet dream. There'll be a lot of blood spilled over this. How long before we all get 'tagged' like criminals for some spurious but 'perfectly reasonable' purpose? Get yourself booked in for that lobotomy - you ain't gonna need your brain much longer - the government will do all your thinking for you!

If they NOW want to charge by the mile, why not just record the mileage each year on the MOT??!? Be a lot easier than hooking the entire population up to SkyNet

Ah well - they won't be able to tell where you have driven, and I guess they'll just assume it was all on a nice bit of expensive road - like "rush-hour" London!

(Let me get this right, would this be instead of Road Tax, fuel duty, Congestion Charging etc etc, or as an extra "little" charge to help us out of our cars?)

Either way
OVER MY DEAD BODY!!!!!

These people are absolutely crazy.

Get 'em out. Its funny how all Governments go a bit wrong in their second term. But this lot take the biscuit.

5p a mile to drive anywhere. Mad. And the only people who will ever pay are the oppressed middle class. The scrotes will just wrap tinfoil round the antenna and when stopped pull two fingers at the copper and claim they were abused as children...

Nu Labia can fcuk off.

I think instead of all this crap starwars type charging crap, how about a very simple solution, along the lines of....every car owner pays a fee or a TAX every year if they want their vehicle on the ROAD. And it could be called........hmmmm.....ummmmm ROAD TAX.

Blair is gonna need and outside No.10 if he carries on like this.

When's the next election? Do we have time for the Conservatives to get their act together and stop squabbling? I sincerely hope so.

Have you worked out how much this will actually cost the end user? for most people it will be over £700 per year. Don't we pay enough aleady? will they lower the price of petrol to cover this? This is obscene. I need a car to get to work, there IS NO VIABLE ALTERNATIVE. I can't afford this extra drain on my funds. Who can?
