Asylum Seekers Again !!

I saw a funny thing yesterday after having filled the car up at the petrol station. Stood by the vacumn cleaner were three asylum types cleaning a K-reg Astra. The thing was they were videoing what they were doing. I just assummed they had got jobs and had bought a car and were going to send the tape home to brag.
However I good friend explained how a friend of a friend had sold his car to the council who had then given it to a family of asylum seekers as it was cheaper than paying for taxis etc. Now I know the last part sounds like an urban mith, but after what I saw earlier at the petrol station I'm not sure.
If it is true yet another clear indictation of which way our country is going.
Anyone any thoughts !!!

I was told by a friend that he had been told by a car salesman(may not be a reliable source) that he had sold a £12,000 people carrier to some asylum seekers, payment for which was with a DHSS cheque.
Think I might try claiming asylum - Sorry, can't, I am one of the twats born here, therefore paying for the privilage.

Why are we paying for their Taxi's???
Can't they walk, or use public transport like everyone else has to, when they havent got a car.
I can't drive at the minute, due to an operation on my shoulder, and its costing me £60 a time in a taxi (Using public transport would be a nightmare, as can't trust people not to knock my shoulder) to go for physio. Bet they won't pay for my taxi's!!!!

I know a car dealer that received a DHSS cheque for a car. In fact he has sold about 40 cars now paid for by DHSS cheques. Many of the second hand car dealers in Southend have sold cars this way. This has been going on for over two years. Many taxi drivers started to refuse to take them and it was cheaper buying a car than the taxi bills the DHSS accounts recieve.

Just my $0.02...
I have absolutely no problem with asylum seekers. I occasionally come across them at work and have found them to be without exception polite, friendly, and incredibly grateful if you treat them with respect.
Ask yourself this; how bad would things have to be for you to leave your country, home, family and friends to travel to a country where you speak litle of the language, have no housing, no friends, or income?
Some of the stories these people have conveyed to me would make you cry and thank God that you were fortunate enough to be born here rather than some hell hole run by a dictatorship. I CANNOT STRESS ENOUGH how bad some of these people have been treated. It is really beyond my comprehension and ability to express it here how one person could do such things to another. I think we tend to be desensitised to these things on the television however, it does bring it home to you when you meet them.
In my, albeit, limited experience these people do try and get employment, often in poor minimum wage jobs and contribute back to the state. The people who we really should be concerned about are the don't/won't/can't be bothered working who let the rest of us fools pay for their beer and fags out of our taxes. I for one am quite happy to have the extortionate amount of tax I pay spent on these people.

You are not alone DRG although the muddled way in which the current and previous Governments have dealt with the issue has done nothing to defuse matters or to reassure a confused and anxious public. The whole thing is becoming redolent of the 'No Blacks or Irish' notices that were common in my youth in boarding houses, pubs etc and in many ways is not that far off the anti-semetic ravings of 1930s Germany.
There are asylum seekers who's case is not valid just as there are other illegal immigrants. There are also home grown scroungers and fraudsters. What we all need is a fresh approach that is demonstrably fair to all parties, I see no signs so far that the political will exists to put things right. I just hope that the traditional British qualities of tolerance and understanding will see us through until the politicians can get their act together.

The trouble it that traditional British tolerance and understanding are getting a little strained in the current situation. People are starting to say NO MORE. Its not just this situation it’s an acumilation of many factors that are pushing the British people to question the government and their policies as well as red Ken. They have done it before with the pole tax and fuel pricing. I thingk the government needs to take stock and look at the situation before it gets out of had and there are full scale riots.

I dont blame asylum seekers one bit.
I think our country is to blame with a welfare system that breeds laziness and high expectations.
Why is it that there are over a thousand vacancies on the buses and a few hundred or so on the trains???
WHy is it that all the low paid jobs such as 24 hour petrol attendants and fruit pickers etc are done by economic migrants??
Its because we British are a bunch of Lazy arseholes.
We dont want to work for a job paying less than 15 grand a year because a combination of benefits will get you that, and then we moan because people from other countries come here and claim asylum.
We should stop blaming them and look at the reasons why they come here. i.e what are the problems in their own countries ?and are we contributing to these economically and militarily (might be getting some more Iraqis here I think!!), and why is the Uk so attractive..... after all, the weather is shit.

whilst i agree that people who are genuinely being persecuted should be offered sanctuary i cannot help but remember that un rules state that asylum seekers should seek refuge in the first "safe country" they enter and when some of these people are waiting in a red cross camp in northern france waiting to gain access to britain which is the furthest safe country in europe! i think to myself , are france, germany,spain, italy all that brutal and cruel that they have to make their way here or is it because our government gives them houses, furniture, money and now even buys them cars???? where would you go in their position??? cant blame the people that take advantage of the system!!! the people who make the system are the ones with the answers!!!!
I would agree that people do have genuine reasons for asylum and they should be helped, give them support and shelter and let them return the "favour", as I am sure some do.
What I dont want to see is bar stewards coming over here because we are the "doormat of Europe", rinsing out system for all they can get, not lifting a finger and buggering off back to wherever. Our public services are strained so much as it stands without this extra pressure being put upon it.

We take on a few 100 refugess each year here in New Zealand. I am happy for them to stay, so long as they learn to thrive and grow in the "NZ Kiwi" way, learn english and blend in. The problem here is that they bring all their utter crap with them and start riots!! I mean we have just saved their lives and give them shelter, so they burn it down, can you beleive that?? Thats the frustrating part. Yes and I pay for it.
