My apologies in advance Ted..

refering to this topic
www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?f=17&h=0&t=24652

I had wondered why the comments were there one day and not there the next, but i think as many others will see it as a usful marker to see how much people us the forum.

But due to one person complaining and getting offended it has ruined it for us all....

Ted can you do a vote like you have done previously on the opening page???

Does anyone else support bringing them back????

Cheers

Much as i hate to agree with "lotusguy", i think they're best left in the bin. I think the system we currently have is good. The status thing of the last one could cause problems for new posters, and the heirarchy was blurred at best.

Legal stresses aside, I really only introduced that on a whim. One of the successes of the GS has been the non hierarchical nature of it.

To be honest, for me the raw stats of how many months a member and how many posts they have made is a far more useful yardstick than some arbitary system-assigned moniker.

I had no problem being referred to as a Veteran, mind, but I think the current (newer) method is much superior.

No, it's important that newbies to the site don't feel intimidated at the sight of large numbers of regulars/veterans.
