Are white people being discriminated against?
Discussion
I dont post such a topic lightly, as even just doing it is likely to have the bleeding hearts out in force, and after my blood.
Nevertheless, its a valid question to ask.
Are white people in britain being actively discriminated against?
I think they are being discriminated against, in favour of afghans and even "ex"-taliban fighters.
Now if afghans were white, id still ask the question are the british being discrimnated against?
And the answer would still have to be yes, we bloody well are.
If the current rate of immigration by these spongers is maintained, whites will be a minority group in this counrty.
In some parts, they already are.
Discuss please....cuss if you like.

Delta fine up until the point about "whites in the minority" mate. In my opinion the colour is irrelevant in comparison to the allegance i.e. to me it doesn't matter what shade you are if you consider the UK to be your home and country and will stand up for it and support it. What jerks my chain (and I grew up in inner city Birmingham) is the I'm not British I'm Indian/Pakistani/whatever, I hate this country etc. etc. Well fine if that's the way you fell stop enjoying all the benefits of living here and fcuk off to somewhere else then.

Agreed.I don't think that aboriginal British people (
) are being discriminated against as such.
But there is far too much being soft with people who claim to be disadvantaged, on the grounds that they have slightly darker skin and so any more rigorous treatment may be perceived as discriminatory against them.
If you look at most areas of life, the successful people in Britain are predominantly white men, followed by white women, and other groups a long way behind.
Ummm I had a whole lot more thoughts on this but I've forgotten them for now, along with the ability to express them clearly, I'll come back later

I don't think it's whites so much Delta as just ordinary British people, whatever their colour. We're being overrun with "refugees" and asylum seekers (social security seekers) and frankly I don't care if they are black, white or orange. The fact is in most instances they have no right to be here because they have passed through numerous other safe countries first (France). They come here because they know once they are in this country our lilly livered government will not throw them out and our SS handouts are second to none.
You only have to look at the court ruling this morning to see what a seemingly hopeless position we Britons (all of us, black, white etc..) are in. Our own courts rule against our national interest and in favour of illegals.
The only way to reverse this situation is for wholesale political change in this country and that is not going to happen while there is no credible alternative to this wnaking government we have now.

Yes.
Cause? Effect?
But it is less to do with racist attitude, more to do with this all pervading PC blanket that has swamped this country at the same time as an america-like litiguous paranoia.
This all seems to end up in a stupid PC circle - neither virtuous or vicious.
Country....This...."Gone to the Dogs"???
"WOOF. That's my other dog impression." As someone once said!

I don't think white or British people of any colour are being discriminated against in the manner this thread suggests.
We, the average, being in the majority, are just being ignored and taken for granted, and relied upon to continue paying the taxes without complaint.
Always been the same.
Its only when we, the average, actually say enough is enough that things happen. Take the fuel protests and the recent anti-war demo in London.
Everyone is used to seeing the sandalista's, the skaggy dreadlocked smelly professional-protesters, and student types protesting and marching....but it's when Mrs Smith and the three kids and Mr Jones the butcher take to the streets that the mass and the politicians take notice.

Interesting point here deltfa, incitement to racial violence is a criminal offence in the UK, your positing here is not likely to be classed as incitement so it is fine. BUT in a number of European counties xenophobia may soon be a criminal offence and under the new European arrest warrant currently being passed by the UK Parliament xenophobia is an automatic deportation offence. So if xenophobia is a crime in say Greece, when the current act is passed, and you make this posting again you could be arrested in the UK and automatically deported to Greece to face trial for xenophobia without any right to a hearing in the UK. We should all be very scared.

I have a different slant on this.
I think the minority are more effective at affecting the majority, because they shout louder.
Lets face it, most majority groups feel safe in their size and do nothing about anything, it is the minority groups that shout louder, persist and eventualy get some satisfaction of what they want.
This covers alsors of issues such as: Veal, Fox Hunting, Religion as well as other stuff that is peeing us all off.

Certain "other groups" are however culturally adept at selecting a geographic area and making it their own. Over a relatively short space of time they have started to displace the indiginous population from extensive areas of urban Britain. Currently this is relatively localised but the time when the "aboriginal british" are a minority in certain cities is not far off. I don't have the proper population growth models to hand, but I believe within a couple of hundred years the abos will be the minority in this country, if current trends continue.
When people cry discrimination it's usually because they DON'T DESERVE to the achieve the goal which they are seeking.
i.e. 'orange' person goes for a job, doesn't get it, cries "Discrimination" as they're orange, then story gets in the papers and the orange person usually gets either (i) the job by default or (ii) the policy for orange peoples employment altered to the detriment of all non-oranges.
In Birmingham we have a black bishop and a asian lord mayor. But I don't feel discriminated against as I don't deserve to hold either job - other people should learn this lesson.

I totally agree with you Swilly, but the previous coment about "lilly livered government" holds true too, and it's not just the government.
At the moment it seems employers are so afraid of anti-racial/disabled/disadantaged/age litigation dogma spilling from across the pond through the idiot's lanterns installed in virtually every home in the land*, that (and I know this is true, I've seen it**) the overiding factor for choosing an indiviual for a post is not only and simply their suitability for the job. Should it not be first come first served, where ever they fall in the above catagories, as long as they are going to be good?
Instead Managers (public sector at least) now appear to have to make sure they have their quoters of all the above societal elements to create an artifically "balanced" work place population.
This situation causes passive postive discrimination in an area like Cambridge where the population truely still has a "white, able marjority". It's not done on purpose, but it does disproportionately advantage those who are in one of these aformentioned groups.
My 2p's worth.

*Did you know that it is now considered a matter of "relative poverty" that a household cannot afford a TV, and as a remidy there is now a benefit to cater for it?
**No, before some on asks, I haven't applied for a job to find later that an ESN, fat, black, wheelchair bound, lesbian
antpant:, vegitarian, asylum seeking ex-taliban "freedom fighter" got it instead. just what I've seen.

If you positively discriminate in favour of one or more minority groups then surely by definition you are negatively discriminating against the majority. I certainly feel strongly that "new labour" are spending a lot of time addressing the requirements of minority groups, partly because they shout louder as has been said already, and partly because of their left wing socialist beliefs. This leaves a lot less time to address the needs of the majority, and I don't think they're doing enough (or anything at all).
For example the parliamentary time that has been spent making it legal for same sex couples to perform sexual acts in public lavatories isn't going to enhance my quality of life and I'd rather the time had been spent on broader issues. I mean, this is still the only western county in the world where the pubs still close at 11:00pm - couldn't they have sorted this out instead (or substitute any more important issue in place). Surely more people would benefit from such a legislative change.
Political correctness - you can keep it, I'm never going to be prevented from speaking up for my own rights.

What an interesting debate, good to see such issues being debated intelligently with a range of views.
I personally can't remember being discriminated against for being a white working male, ever. Sure I've been thrown out of shops and bars for looking dodgy but then, arent white males the perpertrators of the majority of crimes in this country?
Also has anyone ever heard of institutional racism? One of the few valid remnants of postmodernism IMHO.

Its a dodgy topic but one i dont think should be shyed away from. I may get burned for saying this but i dont understand why you would move to Britain to set up a community that segregates you from society. Has anyone been to Rusholme in Manchester? Predominatly asian culture that lives outside normal 'British' values and idealogies...not just the first generation but second and third as well. What would happen a group of us moved to India or China and set up a 'mini-England', would this be tolerated - Does it exist now?
One moment that really sticks out in my mind was when i was a student walking through Rusholme and was called by a gang of asian lads "A White MotherF***ker"....What would happen to me if i called someone else this - society would pounce on me. Racial abuse against "white" people is ignored.
To me i couldnt care less where you come from, what you look like or what skin colour you have. Its a sad thing that in 2003 racism still exists- its pointless. All i care about is "are you an arsehole" (excuse my language) if you are then you wont be getting my time of day.
