It is a vanity thing, online diary lots of geeky linux types with no life do it.

I set one up last year when we were playing with content management, I'll dig it out..

Blogs, blogging has been hailed as some great new medium. I wondered if anyone reads any on a regular basis. And more importantly does PH need any?

What a bloody waste of time! Mind you, I thought PT's diary was fascinating - like a war diary really, full of intricate details, and complex strategies for multi-tasking!

The only way it would be useful on Pistonheads, would be to allow easier updating of our car histories - a possibility there Ted, which might fit in with the reliability surveys we were all going on about, a little while ago - but then again, even TVR's aren't so unreliable that you need to update every 10 mins!!

PistonHeads gassing station is effectively a blog for everyone here. Most people are recording every past, current and future major life event (new tyres, new car, being a victim of crime, marriage, illness etc) as well as commenting on the state of the country and the world.

Meets the definition of blog if you ask me.

I echo Bonce's words on this matter. Blogs are all well and good but PH is a rather comprehensive group blog as it is.

If I didn't spend all day spewing forth crap on PH it'd probably end up on a blog site somewhere.

It'll be amusing to review our musings and rantings in 10 or 20 years time.

I was, though, reading a bit about blogging yesterday.

http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/sci/tech/2775249.stm

Apparently, Google have just bought Pyra, who provide Blogger which is basically the web software that facilitates weblogs & they have acquired Pyra's enormous database full of people's weblogs.

I was reading www.Interconnected.org and their take on what Google plan to do with the data is interesting ...

Google have bought Pyra in order to obtain the entire Blogger archive, which they're going to feed into OpenCyc to create a composite artificial intelligence, the best, the ultimate the www has to offer. And then they're going to ask it for business models.
Okay.. it's not interesting.. nevermind

Following some links on that Wil Wheaton site, if you think that Wesley Crusher was a complete cnut then it sends you to:

www.losers.org

Which is patently hilarious!
