What is it about 40mph?

Because like any other species of farmyard animal, they travel in protective groupings!
So true, like sheep. Or the same breed of myopic single celled amoeba that sits at a roundabout staring wide eyed over a steering wheel gripped with whitened knuckles unable to grasp the fundamental laws of priority

It is for this exact reason I bought a performance car. Once out in the twisties the only way to safely pass a 40mph Numpty is to have huge acceleration.
This is, of course, made necessary by the fact that as you start to pass the bright flash of the car to their right appears to wake them up. In shock their muscles spasm and their right foot extends as a reflex action accidentally depressing the accelerator to the carpet.
It is an important safety feature of any car that I own that this reflex action simply shouldn't matter.

The sonic wave my SEAC makes out of the side pipes doesn't just wake them up, it usually scares them silly. Having had the ample oppertunity to admire their lack of attention to the road and general lack of - err speed; this can be quite gratifying
Sometimes they weave and have been known to cross the white line or clip the verge before recovering. Generally, anyone following me in the overtake has to be extremely careful......
hmm i noticed this yesterday on the way back from Boxhill... I thought it was just bad luck on my part that on several different occasions I got stuck behind about 5 of these morons. Not sure how to encourage them to drive at NSL either... altho having a car worth about £5 does mean that nudging them towards the NSL is feasible
In France you can mainbeam the bastards, apparently... meybee I sheud speek le francais, nest par, end ram les bastards (yes i know it's not spelt correctly; poor attempt at comedy)

We were following my Mum in her Passat the other day. 40 mph in the 30 mph zones - bloody numptie I thought - she is 71 after all. Expected her to carry on doing 40 when we got on the NSL road. But nooooooo she's hooning round the bends at 70 mph. Be warned all you people in North Suffolk - she is a loonie. Watch out for the white Passat with the 5'2" grey haired granny.
Gave her a right ear bashing for the 40 in the 30 tho'. Nice feeling that - telling your parents off.

My Father-in-law is a prime numpty and one of the founding members of the "45mph club" - membership of which is straightforward and only requires you to drive at 45mph everywhere, (of course in reality anything between 40 and 50 will do), Anyway he got Gatso'd at 41 in a 30 the other day by just about the most obvious bleeding speed camera I know of - almost made me support speed cameras
Still, one more person with a negative view of speed cams who had never been "nicked" before - who knows maybe he'll bomb a Gatso!
Edited to say; The daft old fool will probably just drive into one at 45mph.
