Was thinking of putting the Redex cleaner in my car, has anyone ever used this? If so what sort of results should i expect.

Another alternative was filling up my car with a couple of tanks of Optimax.

Doing this as i noticed my engine is losing a bit of pick up between 2-3000 revs -thought it may need a bit of a clean.

certainly wont do it any harm, theres a few products out there that do a similar job...i've poured it straight into the carbs before, though you can add it to a tank of fuel if you have injection, seemed to clear some of the gunk in the head...

Ive always been somewhat sceptical of redex.
Guy up the street used to shove it his carbs like there was no tomorrow.
Most of the time you couldnt see the end of the street for him.
Cant see what its going to do for the engine just by whanging a load of that down the intake.
Maybe a petrol additive would be better, as itll take longer to be used up.

Used to put in my TR7 from time to time. Did the world of good, but like Deltaf, I can't really see why. Car did run smoother for quite a while after a dose though, and the engine did over 100k miles which can't be bad, especially as it was made by British Leylanbd

Its Red, sweet smelling and cleans all the crap off the needle / jets as it is used. I used to take the top off the carb on my old cavalier and pour it into the float chamber, prime the carb and fire her up.. alwasy seemed to make the engine run a bit better.
I usually put a shot of two in the Wedge whenever I remember.

I used to use (traditional)Redex in a Meadows engined car which suffered from oiling up plugs. When I stopped using Redex the plug oiling stopped.

I have used their injector cleaner and that seemed to be highly efficatious.

Once knew a chappie, many moons ago, who rigged up a Vespa scooter with a device that let him inject a large quantity of Redex, at will, directly into the carb.

It could produce a cloud of instant fog, completely enveloping the local shopping centre.

Confused shoppers on hot, sunny days, and made foot-bound plod very cross indeed.........

I used to pour it straight into the carbs on my first car - a Mk2 Polo - and it sorted it out a treat.
