Just like any kind of trading really,,,risk / reward..make sure you have more upside potential than downside.that means if you win you make 3 to losing say 1 unit..be careful in terms of you have stops in place so that you can get out & lose no more than you expected to lose..Start off in small size to get used to procedures.Don't do the coulda shoulda thing,,,if you had put more money into your winners you would made out big time..learn from experience don't dwell on old trades.
Finally add to winning positions, don't add to losers.
Only tend to due this with stock index & bond futures to be fair....same principals would apply to cricket scores & other sports bets.

What sort of bet were you wanting?
I dont know much about spread betting itself, although i can give you some online sites if you were wanting to do it online.
Personally I wouldn't gamble what you don't know how much you will loose.
