I want to be on commission when poor old Derek gets to sue the FBI for wrongfull arrest, imprisonment etc..

I hope the old codger takes them for a good whack. Same goes for the South African Police (Heavy handed - these guys - never!).

There you are playing golf in your retirement when a SWAT team come through the bushes and bang you up in a cell.

"It's Derek, not James" he yelled to no avail.

If you put it in a book no one would believe it.

Still, he's out now - after 3 weeks in a Durban prison cell.

Heads should roll.

Oh they've let him go now have they?
I heard an interview this morning from someone at the jail where he has been locked up and they have said they were not going to release him until they had had written confirmation from the FBI.

So he could be there for another three weeks then

I had that on the good old Beeb.

Someone from the FBI contacted the Beeb - Beeb contacted the poor old chap - the SA authorities have had a 'phone call, but they will not release him 'til confirmation.

It makes sense really - anyone could ring up and say "Hi! I am from the FBI can you let my friend Norman Bates out....actually he might be called Norman Wisdom or Simon Bates...I don't really know...we had a picture once.....!"

You're quite right as usual Mrs F. I was a bit previous. I just assumed that as the FBI have said that he's not their man (in fact the right man has been arrested in Vegas) the South African plod would release him. However, the chief of police is obviously of French descent as he likes the "paperwork" to be in order.
