The National Speed Limit is 70mph.
Earlier today, I was oop even further nowf with a bunch of IT bods confusing the Abu Nidal outta me.
But that's unimportant.
What was significant, however, was the fact that every car - and I mean every sucker & their dog - was doing at least the ton.
I was a-barging so outsidelanism of the most enjoyable variety required the sort of hoofing usually confined to late night, sub radar detecting forays.
But once again - and I apologise not for flogging this most deceased of mortified Pegaseans - I was both shocked and delighted by the universal rate of progress.
Had I been in the Daz mobile, I'm sure I would have accidentally overshot the turn off for Preston and landed in Carlisle but there you go.
So hot on the heels of Don's post about 'would you obey a higher NSL? The answer, I suppose, could be yes but the (maximum varibale) limit (for this is my favoured path, i.e. a la M25 but much faster) would have to be exceptionally high by todays' emasculating limits.
70 really is a quite pathetic, yes pathetic, limit. It seems as valid to Mr.Bod's Vectra - never mind the plethora of PH metal - as Cromwell's edict proscribing bear baiting.

I observed an elevated rate of progress along an extended expanse of the M6 on Tuesday.
I would have joined in, but obviously I am somewhat limited by the fact that my corporate transport has all the aerodynamic grace and efficiency of a skydiving grand piano, and is furthermore hampered by an engine that I feel more suited to powering a gyppo encampment generator.

Should manage a limiter, I suspect.
Watch it if you're heading southbound: there are a couple of sections of massively fast sweeping bends south of Killington Lake Services where you pile right down the visual flightpath to where Mr. Plod is sat in his Rangey or whatever - they can't possibly miss you, but you won't see them. Trust me on this.
