my mum's downstairs watching some stupid program on itv, called "spoiled rotton", which about parents who spend loads of cash on their kids,

from what i've seen so far, there was a kid who wanted the £1100 coat over the £110-250 coats 'cos it was more expensive,

there are sit in electric cars more than very competant new (real) cars...

and the classic i've just seen, some parents are spending thousands of pounds on their daughter 'cos they're never there for her... now i'm sure the woman was justifying this by saying she's at work so she can buy everything her daughter wants...

but her own daughter said "i'd rather have mummy than presents..." all her daughter wants is to be picked up from school by her mum and get to see her during the day rather than have £6k spent on redecorating her bedroom!!!

what is the world coming too???

I was'nt entirely convinced that the girl was being truthful here - especially once I'd seen the rest of the programme.

Absolutley appauling throughout that programme. I though the people who spend £25 a week on their kids going karting was bad enough.

The aforementioned child's mum at one point was shopping in Hamleys for a couple of hours to get her daughter a present as she had'nt spent any time with her for a few days. FFS! You could have been spending 2 hours with your daughter instead of shopping at Hamleys.

Oh and the missus must have been in a catty mood last night... Her best comment was (in reference to the Hamleys Orphan's mum) "I'd go back and complain if I'd had my nose done and it came out like that!!!

Far play to that Ollie bloke though for taking their money off them at every opportunity!

I really am disappointed though in these peoples attitudes

I thought it was a very sad indictment of moneyed parents and thier incredibly poor parenting skills. They produced all the classic scenarios that fools like these do - the poorer mother (with the expensive coat daughter) who so obviously trying to make up for her own failure by living a life through her daughter, the "I want a mummy not presents", the sad looking kids, all with bags under their eyes, the stupid adolescent boy saying "I'vew had too much (berry cocktail) to drink, and pretending to be sick outside for teh camera. All aspiring/wannabe celebs - absolutely pathetic, and in truth, they should all be reported to Social Services, because this was a programme about emotional abuse. These will grow up to be totally dysfunctional, socially inept adults.

I had to turn over, as well - it was too much with me and Mrs. Nubbin ranting at the telly!

I always thought my Dad paying £25 a week on golf club membership for himself and me was bad enough when all we did was go and loose golf balls for 4 hours a week Some people really need to get a bit of perspective.

. . and the ball at the end is held at Pantiles where us TVR Surrey types meet mid-week - it's not the reason why - honest!

I couldnt watch it, although I had too!

The worse bit was when that woman who had been hit by a bus said "My daughter is soooo sophisticated, I wasnt like that at nine" and there is her daughter nodding in the background!

FFS Nooooooo, help...me....please!

All the manicurists, sales assistants, even the decorator (sorry "mural design artist") must love the fact their clients are totally driven by the decision making of a child! No arguments over the cost! How many billion to do the bedroom?

I had to turn it off, these people make me sick. Talk about making a rod for their own back. I also find it sad when they feel they have to live the lives they would have liked through their own children.

Same sort of parents who give their kids a grand a week pocket money at university and wander why they end up spending it on drugs (see Olivia Channon - Guiness heiress who overdosed on smack after her Finals. FACT - If you die BEFORE your Finals they give you a posthumous First Class degree - she got a Third - sad)

Shooting's too good for the parents.

What you need is a good baseball bat (the metal ones).

I sat through this entire abomination of modern parenting.

To the rich woman with the important job - Presents are no substitute for love you silly cow! Being there in the first place would mean that you didnt have to buy your childs affection...

As for the woman preening her child with £130 coats, perhaps dear saving that cash for the childs future education would be a more worthwhile pursuit?

Though, I have to say, that chap with the kiddies boutique what a marvellous scam! Pure capitalism at work that, show a child a £130 coat and then a £1100 coat which one is it going to want? Marvellous.

Wish I had thought of it.

Matt.

TVR should get into the "small electric cars" market.

I'm sueing my parents at the moment because they didnt give me the ame start in life. I have to get up EVERY week day and go to work.

I have to earn money. Why could'nt they remortgage the house so I could buy that Aston on my 17th Birthday???

(You know I'm joking. But somewhere, somehow someone is trying to do this...)

Yeah, I saw that last night, but I am somewhat confused as to how a bedroom make-over can cost £8,000 - £10,000?!?!?! I mean it did have some bespoke carpentry in it, but lets face it £8,000 buys you a hell of a lot of man hours....

Any ideas...? Or was that chap just making is sound expensive...

Cheers,

Paul

Correct - he was selling a "unique image" - ie ripping the punters off - but if they got the money - let 'em pay . .

I did notice the little girl had (possibly) DENON sound systems - so that may swallow up a grand or two!

I thought it looked like a TEAC reference system, but either way it still in the 1,000's! Does a little kiddie really need that type of power / performance? I think not.

I'm banned from watching stuff like that - I tend to shout at the telly rather a lot!
