My new Road Angel arrived yesterday...I set it up and the first wait for the unit to find satelites seemed to take forever 20 mins !!!
The good news is that it works, driving around my local area I can conform the myself & Road Angel have something in common,we know where both the local speed cameras are....hopefully it knows of a lot more than I do.

One thing I am not sure about is the constant Gps speed reading, this always seem to lack the digital read in my car by more than 10%...sometimes it seemed to go nuts as in 35mph...6mph....28mph....when my car seemed to think it was doing 37mph (in a 40 zone seriously).
I got the impression that the unit "learns" where sattelites are also that internal batteries need to charge.
Will the R A speed reading become more accurate or is it no more than an irritation that cannot be relied upon?

I was not under trees or tall buildings during these readings.

After the first use, mine finds satellites in seconds.

Once you are at a steady speed, I think that the Road Angel speed is the more accurate, as speedos have to over-read.

Wouldn't stake my licence on it though......

The database is good, in Sheffield it knows about the SPECS system on the Stocksbridge bypass and the new forward facing Truvelos that are breeding everywhere. My favourite is Middlewood road, used to be NSL, now 30mph - no changes, no accidents ???

RA must be good, my wife who is very anti-gadget loves the thing

All the sat units take a while to first fire up but after that it is usuall only a couple of mins.Where your speed appears to jump around is caused by the unit not having a very good lock.Sounds like your in a bad reception area ,these can be caused by hills, woodland or built up arears etc .Sounds like the unit is working ok

Many thanks for the responses guys...I thought it was working ok just less slick than others I have seen.total operating time is under 1/2 an hour so far perhaps I should give it a little more time...cheers.
