Boring Royal Mail Question
Discussion
Is anyone else having probs with their home postal deliveries ATM ? Second class seems to be taking 7-10 days, first 3-4 days, to be delivered to NE Derbyshire. Post to business address (Central Nottingham) seems MUCH faster and post to London address seems unaffected. If it's just me I'll complain

Chaotic is the best way to describe the postal service and it's extremely variable depending on where in the coutry you live. When we lived in London, we went through periods during which 50% of our mail never arrived and the other 50% took a week to arrive. Made selling the house fun I can tell you..
Since we've lived in Basingstoke I reckon much less goes missing but some stuff does take days & days to turn up.
Not much help to you I know but yes, the post is yet another thing that's fcuked in this country.
Most of the problems are reckoned to be down to agency temps working as posties who either dump or rip off large amounts of mail. The permanent posties are generally good guys.. the agency ones are usually frequently on temporary work permits.. go figure.

Nope, not just you - I am still having horendous trouble with both Royal Mail and Parcel Force! It differs depending on the weather and time of day too... Getting to be quite annoying too. Currently selling some old CD's on Amazon and the feedback from people ranges from 2 days for first class to upto 6 in a couple of cases..... getting to be quite annoying...

I'm having similar problems at the moment here in Croydon - mainly with totally lost mail - you can register your concern on the Royal Mail's customer service line as I have - but all they say is they can't really narrow down the point at which the delay is happening - if you have a hunch its at your end ask your neighbours and other locals if they've got any recent bad experiences - if several have the Royal Mail may investigate more proactively.
Otherwise it's simply a symptom of a combination of the usual "lack of investment" moaning and a workforce jam-packed full of bolshy jobsworths who like blaming everyone but themselves for the sh1te service we are getting - I tell you what - just blame the Tories - seems to still be the in thing despite the fact that the Royal Mail was the most strike-hit organisation and send anything important by courier.

Grrrreat! Seems to be a recent problem in our neck of the woods though. Perhaps it's just a new postie. Previous postie drove a Tiv Griffith (not a joke)-so service was swift, but not always reliable (alledgedly a joke) Edited to add: prompted a letter threatening my credit rating for not renewing the DD on my TV licence. Got the letter asking me to renew it 10 days later, postmarked 20 days previous
Wonder if they'll take away my black Amex
My wife would leave for certain :spendingmymoneylikeitsgoingoutoffashion:

I know what you mean about NE Derbyshire. I get the feeling my post gets saved up for a few days and delivered all in one go. I only live 400 yards from Buxton sorting office and used to see the postman most mornings as I set out for sunny Stockport (nearly reversed over him once, ooops). I rarely see anyone delivering now.

You should try Oxford's post - on the odd occasion when the sorting office isn't on strike the post still takes about a week...
We were stood in a pub in Winchester Friday night when at about 19-00 the local postie walked in. Full uniform, wet weather coat, bag and cap.
Now I know the post office is slightly chaotic at the moment, but to have deliveries made this late we thought would be taking the pi$$, turns out he is dyslexic .......... we just had this vision of him trying to work out road names with address' on the envelops. Could be we were having our leg pulled, still made us laugh!
