Fan banned from playing Cliff

A Cliff Richard fan was today banned from playing his music because it upset her neighbours.

Sian Davies, 23, had her hi-fi seized by noise watchdogs after several complaints. When council officers raided her flat they found the star's single Peace In Our Time in the CD player - and confiscated that as well.

Davies, from Porth, in Rhondda Valley, South Wales, was fined £600 plus £364 in costs after she admitted two charges of noise nuisance. She also forfeited her hi-fi equipment, which included two CD players, a midisystem, a record player, two cassette players and five speakers.

Neighbour Debbie Rees, 32, said: "You could hear Cliff pounding out of the windows day and night. It was disturbing everyone, and not everyone loves Cliff as much as she does." Rhondda magistrates granted council officers permission to seize the property after hearing that Davies ignored warnings to turn down the volume.

Bill Latham, a spokesman for Sir Cliff's management company, said: "He would not want anyone to play his music so that it caused a nuisance."

Not me, Carz! I keep my Cliff-listening activities within reasonable limits.

Oh, and our neighbours are deaf. Lucky, that.

It would be like the police in america during the prohibition period in the 20's/30's (not sure which it was) going around with big hammers smashing up all the Cliff Richards albums ......... gets my vote
