Should children be allowed into pubs and bars more? Or should they be protected from possible dangers?

Children (with their parents) have been going to pubs and restaurants in germany and switzerland for the last 100 years without problems, so why the hell not?? Obviously NOT in the evening (e,g after 8) or if the pub is not "applicable". And the pub owner ALWAYS has the last say. If he wants he can ban someone, then he can ban children as well if he thinks that it's not "appropriate" for his clientel. He's the businessman after all!

Definitely not. It is the most ludicrous idea I have heard for a while. Fair enough if they are in for dinner with their mam and dad but no way should kids be running round pubs and especially not clubs. There is a mass of problems that are blatently obvious and I can't even be arsed listing them. One that screams out though is the idea of 14/15 year old girls surrounded by pissed up muppets.

Yes but the new bill would mean that kids could go in on their own without an adult.

Its not children who need to be protected from dangers in pub, its the adults who need protection from noisy annoying disturbing kids! I'm sick of being in restaurants with parents who think its acceptable to let their sprogs use the dining area as a playground while I'm trying to have a pleasant meal. (I know this is tarring all with the same brush but I've definitely found the quiet well-behaved ones to be in a minority).
I don't go for a drink in their playgrounds, they can stay out of my pubs! Bloody ridiculous idea!

Reading between the lines of these stories does this mean they are finally getting round to sorting out the licensing laws in the UK and are bringing in 24hr opening hours ?
BTW On the original question. No kids should be allowed in pubs unaccompanied. It's OK for them to go into "Family" pubs with their parents but the final decision should be with the landlord. IMHO.

No but I sympathise with the idea they should be allowed to go somewhere. Name one place kids can hang out together these days in the evenings? If they go to the park - they're too loud and the police have to come along, If they hang around the town centre the police move them on, if they find an idustrial estate or car park to skateboard/bmx whatever on the police move them on.
They need something but what?
BTW When me and my mates started skateboarding at the local train station car park the car crime levels dropped to virtually non existant. The police used to sympathise that we had nowhere to go but as they had had a complaint of "a gang of boys hanging around looking suspicious" they had to move us on.
